And does this often lead to serious injury?

My friend told how close he came to crushing his daughter's fingers by accident. It struck me that you could get some very serious injuries from such a thing.

I woke up with a sore eye and couldnt open it. Have had a cold for a week and yesterday ran cross country. I went to the chemist they said it could be an infection. I feel like theres something inside it someone said its probably an eye lash but Ive had tones of those and I no what they feel like. I can see out of it just hurts sometimes when I blink, open my eye wider and rub it. Help what should I do I want a doctor but parents just left me here alone.

Pain began a week ago, it hurts to take in a deep breath, it is unbearable to lay down and try and rollover. The pain feels as if someone was pulling everything apart inside. The Ct scan showed a spot in my liver and a cyst on an ovarie but the pain is where my gallbladder used to be. The surgeon is referring me to a pain specialist and I am having an MRI next Thursday. What can I do to try and relieve the pain, I am taking pain killers but I am afraid to get addicted to them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a very small bump in the arch area of my foot. It's not above the surface of the skin, so I don't think it's a wart. It seems to be UNDER the skin. And the dot that represents it is a very light purple. It hurts a little when I apply direct pressure on it, but there's no problem if I put pressure on any side of it. It causes moderate discomfort when I walk with shoes (the shoes have arch supports). If I walk barefoot around the house, there's no discomfort because the bump doesn't touch the ground. It feels like it's connected to the tendon that's runs from my heel to my big toe. Is it just a bruise? Some kind of tendon/bone spur? Have I inflamed the tendon by being on my feet for too long and thus created a little bump of sorts? If so, how should I take care of it?

I was recently doing yoga, and I think I pinched a nerve in my wrist. From my pinky to the beginning of my wrist tingles a lot, and it is really bothersome. Anyone else ever have this happen? How can I fix it? Aside from the obvious rest? Thanks!

I broke my tib and fib just above my ankle 6 weeks ago. I had surgery to pin my fibia and have been in pot for 6 weeks. The cast was removed 3days ago, I was expecting to have a walking pot put on but I was told I didnt need one and to start trying to walk on it. My ankle is very swollen and goes red and purple when I lower my foot to the floor. I can't bear to put any weight on it or put my foot flat to the floor due to the pain so walking is absolutely impossible! There was no mention of physiotherapy at the hospital nor was I given any exercises to help regain movement in my ankle. Is it just a case of elevating my leg until the swelling goes down (how long should this take?) and then I will be able to start to weightbear? Is there something wrong or am I just being a wimp?

My mother had surgery some time ago on her throat. This was to remove her thyroid gland either way afterwards she had to wait till her voice healed before she could speak afterwards she always sounded winded, out of breath and at some points she loses her voice completely in the middle of a sentence. We have a family friend who is a doctor and believes that a nerve could have been cut that is causing her to loose her voice. If she looses her voice permanently which is possible then she can't keep her job. Right now she can speak, but there is a fear it could be more permanent.

All started about 5 days ago with all the mentioned problems all over my body. I've had bad cramps on both my legs and i can barely walk proper, both legs are weak and i walk like an old man.

Exactly 2 weeks ago on a Friday I consumed a lot of alcohol and I got alcohol poisoned, after from Sat to Tue I had problem with my digestive system and I had was diarrhea all day long with only 1 day going to the bathroom 15 times.

After I got well from Wed to Sun (5days) I went out every night drinking and from Monday I started to get cramps/twitching/spasms. It's been 4 days now and nothing seems to go away.

What I think is that during the 1st week that I got the diarrhea my body minerals ran out and the body system was on recovery but again I played around and it became worse now. So what I'd say the body is low on minerals which I'm having Vitamins, Potassium, and Calcium ever since but things haven’t got any better. Both legs are weak and it's even hard to climb up any stairs.

A student in our school has just had an operation to correct a defect in his lower leg and ankle (he has hemiplegia) and that part is currently wired and bolted into a frame that will be adjusted daily. We, as TAs in our school, have been asked to wheel him about- -in an especially adapted wheelchair-- from lesson to lesson and before they start and end so that the corridors are quiet.
We are really not happy about htis because we feel that should an accident, or incident occur whereby the student is injured, who would be held liable, us or the school?
This arrangement is meant to go on for the next six months. Your thoughts will be appreciated.

I cracked my nail during gym today (which sucks).

So according to this diagram that i found on Wikipedia, i seem to have cracked my "nail groove".

see here --> http://i10.tinypic.com/4gq6891.jpg

So bascially my nail is still in place except that theres a crack where the red line is (in the diagram) and it was bleeding. Im also missing a piece off the corner & it hurts...

Now my question is... WIll it grow back?! and be normal again?... about how long would it take? =( Im very worried.
