ICE: Apply Cold to stop pain and restrict excess Fluid to the injury.

COMPRESSION: To further inhibit swelling caused by excess Fluid to the injury.

Take an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen to help with the pain and swelling.

Do not apply heat type ointments to injuries that is swelling (heat increases blood flow and on swelling injuries you do not want that).

Wrap the sprain with a rubber bandage, apply ice, but an ointmint to put on it can be some Bengay or Hot and Cold. These will relax the muscle.

Don't know of any oitnments. But, I can tell you that soaking your ankle in warm water with epson salts tends to speed the healing process and can offer comfort to a very painful injury. It's what I have done in the past and it worked for me.
