Injuries - March 2007

I had a r.tibial fracture mended thru external fixation. when surgeon removed fixator rods, there were 5 skin holes overlying the tibial apertures. he said they never stitch them shut, they must stay open for weeks to drain blood from within the bones. & they did. When blood finally ceased, ortho said the skin holes (only 1/4 in.thick) will close thru secondary intention.
some did, but others remained soft weak scabs & never skinned over. 1 of the holes began to drip water in a constant stream. the water pressure within pierced the scab. This comes cause I have severe CHF w/ water overloaded in my tissues. (NOT lymphedema) It began soon after fixator removed & bone healed. I ask you: can any surgery close this raw, painful sore wound, with stitches - Wouldn't the constant flow of water from the tissues around the hole keep the site wet & soggy & prevent healing? the flow is unstoppable. 1 gallon daily. Can a cautery, silver nitrate or other, seal off the tissues leaking the water?

i have just been diagnosed as having a weak spot in the retina of my left eye. the eye doctor says it could become detached and to let him know if i ever see "floaters" is there anything to prevent this weak spot from having my retina detach or do i just have to hope it doesnt happen?

while I was sk8ing, I fell on my tail bone and this happened three weeks ago, but it really hurts, feels like it just happened yestarday. What should I do? Go and get an x-ray or something???

I don't mean to get personal, but I was wondering, if you can tell me, what the total cost was, of having that done, and how it looked when it healed. I'd also like to ask, how long it took it to heal, and how long you have to wait to get your ear re-pierced?Thanks in advance!!!

I was doing hurdles on March 26, Monday, and I landed on the left side of my left foot, so that the sole of my foot pointed towards the right instead of the ground. I heard and felt my bones kind of snap. Now, it hurts when I walk, I can't do a toe raises on that foot, and I can't jog. I have to LIMP. There's no swelling though. What do I do? PLEASE HELP!

I sprained my ankle quite bad several months ago - before winter started. I didn't go see a doctor because I dont have insurance right now, but my ankle is still somewhat swollen, and although I have free range of motion and can stand and walk, there is pain when i move it suddenly or sit with my legs crossed for too long. I am mostly concerned about the swelling. Should I go see a doctor or just shrug it off as i have been doing?

I fell off my bike 10 mins ago, and it still hurts! i can move it an everything, but it hurts alot! i can't tell my mom because she will be mad because she didnt want me biking! would a torn ligament show up on an xray? I saw my dr. last week for pain in my right arm around the bicep and tricep. She thinks it's a torn ligament. She ordered an xray and it came back normal. I'm suppose to start physical therapy at an athletic club but they haven't called me yet to set up an app.

More specificly remember the "6 inch" hold where you lay on your back and hold your feet in the air for as long as possible? well i do this but moving my legs up and down. Could this have been the root of my new knee pain or should i look somewhere else?

I have had an ingrown toenail for over a year now, the first time i went to the doctors he told me that it would grow out by itself but it hasnt. I know surgery is the only option becasue it is not ingrown from the corner but from the side

It's not the regular type that you can just pull out yourself

I was just wondering what will it look like after surgery, will it look like my other big toe again? or will it be misshapen.

went to a concert yesterday and almost 24 hours later my leftear has still not recovered.. i can still hear ringing out of it?.. :( its not usual that go to gigs of play really loud music so i cant have done too much previous damage.is this normal?... and when do you think it will get back to normal? all answers appreciated!!
