I have had an ingrown toenail for over a year now, the first time i went to the doctors he told me that it would grow out by itself but it hasnt. I know surgery is the only option becasue it is not ingrown from the corner but from the side

It's not the regular type that you can just pull out yourself

I was just wondering what will it look like after surgery, will it look like my other big toe again? or will it be misshapen.

I know no-one looks at my feet but id like to know anyway

Get this taken care of as soon as possible- not only it's painful but you are risking an infection. I had ingrown toenail when I was 16 and the doctor cut it on the side- today it looks normal and does not show like anything was done on it. Also, when you trim your toenails, do not round it, keep it straight across or else it will grow in again.

After the ingrown toenail is surgically removed, ( sometimes 1/2 the nail, sometimes all of it ), your toe will usually look very normal. It takes several months for the nail to regrow to normal size, but after it does, your toe should look normal. Discuss this with your Doctor before the Surgery.

I had one cut out and it looks no different than the other. It really wassn't that big a deal. The worst part was the shot in the toe.

Why have you waited so long? Go get it done. You'll be so relieved it will be worth it!
