ok, there was this place that had walk-in chair massages, and it wanted $20 for a 10 minute massage! Is it me, or is that high? What's a normal price?

The place here in town charges $70 for a one hour massage. It is a nice salon/spa type setting. That's a little over $1 per minute. You were charged $2 per minute for a walk in place. Yes, I think that is high!

Depends on what kind of massage you looking for. No, that's not what I meant....
I have been charged from 60 - 80 bucks for a full body massage (from a massage therapist that is), for an hour. Although in a far away land I found one for 25 bucks for an hour.
I have seen the chair massages going for around a buck a minute.

Doing massage is actually hard work. Harder than facials that are more expensive. A bunch of roses costs the same. We are just used to spending on some things more than the others- like food...

typically massage therapists are making about a dollar a minute now but some places may charge more call around and see but that seems to be the going rate:)

Only massages worth paying for are ones with happy Endings.

well like they said here already...different places charge differently, but be careful, lots of these places are not LICENSED therapist and they just give a "rub down" and they charge a lot of money, and sometimes they do more harm than good. $30.00 for 30mins, is appropriate, and that would include, neck, shoulders, arms, upper back (thoracic) lower back, and any trigger points, and that's with good pressure of course...not a "rub down".
but check around and be careful with those fakes
Good luck ^i^

chair massages normally dig into my back way too much and is uncomfortable. ask your wife/gf if you have one, they'll do it for free and its a lot more relaxing :)

no that sounds pretty average. it does depend upon the type of place it was, too. you also pay more for nicer places. walk-in places usually aren't as nice... most of the time. it also depends upon WHERE you were-- different areas of the country charge more or less.
