Has anyone had swelling a year after arthorscopic surgery? My knee and ankle are still swollen a year after the surgery and because of other problems can't exercise so have gained 30 lbs. Need to find a way of getting rid of the excess weight when I can't exercise because of the problems with the knee, but really am wondering if anyone else has had this type of swelling problem.

Awhile back I chipped a tooth and had a porecalin veneer put in which completely regained the tooths original shape and functionality.
More recently, after an accident, I had arthoscopic surgery on my shoulder in which the conclusion is that no apparent mucsle damage has occured, however a 3 milimeter chip of bone fragment was removed. My doctor surmises that it either came from the scapular,or the humerus and was "floating around in there".
As can be expected I expierience some pain and functional restrictions from this injury and I wanted to know if a similar "reconstruction" may be pheaseable as was done with my tooth? And if so what is the procedure called?

I experienced sharp pains in my right lower arm, between my wrist and elbow. It hurt so bad that I became worried. It has never happened before. I became anxious, dizzy, felt as though I was going to pass out, and my blood pressure was severely elevated. I went to the Dr. and everything seemed normal, but they had some concern about an EKG that was done. They say it may just be a pinched nerve, but also referred me to a specialist to have a stress test done. I have lived a very sedentary lifestyle for the past 8 years or so, haven't had the best eating habits, smoke socially and dring alcohol regularly...beer, wine. Thanks.

Some point last year, i wanted to improve my physical strength and what not and one of the nights i was boxing the air, you know to practise. Anyhow, after a little while i threw my arms back. What i mean is, i bent the elbows of both my arms and threw in back, as if i were pushing my chest out. As soon as i did it there was a loud pop in the center of my chest (which sounds like when people crack/pop/click their joints) and where it popped it started to hurt bad and snatched my breath. From that point on up to now, anytime i slightly move in any way my chest pops. It doesn't hurt anymore or take my breath but it is strange i feel. I knew your elbows did it, your knees did it, etc, but i didn't know the center of your chest could. I was wondering, if this could be bad and if i should get an x-ray or if it is in fact common and will heal?

Thanks

I am a very active & fit person & work out @ da gym for 2hrs 40 mins daily- 1 hr running 11.1k(with a 5 min cool down), 1 hr on the bike mchne (with a 5 min cool down) & 30 mins stretching & sit-ups to finish. About 1 wk & a half/2 wks ago I injured my leg (I think by running) but thought it was just a minor strain so carried on gritting my teeth & working out as usual (I also kick-box 2ce a wk). My kick boxing instructor advised me not to work out so harshly if I was in pain but thinking it was just a little strain I ignored his advice. Last night my leg was too painful & I had to admit defeat. I was advised to buy Ibuprofen gel (as oppose to the heatrub) which I have been using since last night and told to rest with no exercise. This has becom traumatic 4 me bein a fitness fanatic and I've been told if I HAVE to do anything to swim & POSSIBLY go on the bike. Da fitness instructor thinks I may hav torn a muscle & is doin a sports msg Fri. Advice on how I maintain fitness b4 I recover?

I play the mridanga in temples and other functions. At times I have to beat it vigorously. This has resulted in cracked and bleeding palms which is extremely painful. The allopathic doctors prescribe some ointment and advise me not to play mridanga in the future. But playing mridanga is my job / my life.
