Take your daughter to the nearest emergency room right now. She needs a CT scan of her head, especially if she lost consciousness. Worse than a concussion (though that might be potentially what she has) is a subdural or epidural hematoma or a subarachnoid hemorrage, all of which are different types of bleeding around the brain.

If it's a concussion, that is usually self-limiting and heals just like any other bruise. If it is an intracranial bleed, she may need intervention by a neurosurgeon.

Yes, it can. You should go to the ER or your doctor immediately. That's the one sign all doctors agree on.

Other important facts about concussions include that they:

*are caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head
*can occur even if the athlete doesn't lose consciousness
*can happen in any sport
*may not cause symptoms until days or weeks after the injury
*can cause brain swelling, permanent brain damage, or even death, if the person has a second concussion before fulling recovering from a first one

Yes and yes it could. You need to see a doctor immediately if she is vomiting after hitting her head. It is not necessarily bad, it a symptom that could indicate some type of serious injury. Don't let her sleep until you see a doctor.

Call your doctor right away, or take her to the emergency room. She could very possibly be suffering from a concussion. Best of luck
