Some point last year, i wanted to improve my physical strength and what not and one of the nights i was boxing the air, you know to practise. Anyhow, after a little while i threw my arms back. What i mean is, i bent the elbows of both my arms and threw in back, as if i were pushing my chest out. As soon as i did it there was a loud pop in the center of my chest (which sounds like when people crack/pop/click their joints) and where it popped it started to hurt bad and snatched my breath. From that point on up to now, anytime i slightly move in any way my chest pops. It doesn't hurt anymore or take my breath but it is strange i feel. I knew your elbows did it, your knees did it, etc, but i didn't know the center of your chest could. I was wondering, if this could be bad and if i should get an x-ray or if it is in fact common and will heal?

Thanks

Dude , you are ok.
I have the same thing.
About 7 years ago I was in an accident and after that , the same thing happens to me too.
I still don't know what it is , or what causes it , but it doesn't hurt so I'm not going to a doctor about it.......I think it's quite a cool party trick , cause I've never known anybody else who can do that...until reading your question.....

Sometimes i get this feeling in my chest that's like the feeling when you need to crack something(obviously) and if i throw my arms back my chest will crack and the feeling will go away, it doesn't hurt and only happens at most once a month, and no i have never been to the doctors about it as it never hurt me and i just assumed it was one of those things.

it will heal probably. you could go for an x ray but all that would mean is a 3 hour wait at casualty and probably no x ray. as long as you have no breathing or lung trouble the latest thinking is to leave the rib cage to sort itself out.

You probably poped a rib loose where it joins the sternum. They are attached by cartilige & quite easily injured.

You should have an x-ray as it may be a cracked rib

It happens to me if i slouch all day. I just do exactly what you said and it makes a popping noise. It's your sternum.
