it's a bulg, like a huge zit. If I touch it, it hurts bad. It's too far inside the ear to really see it, I got it from rubbing with a cutip too hard while cleaning my ears last week.

I can't even put my head on the pillow without it hurting. It seems to be getting bigger, what can I do? Thanks! And what is it possibly?

It's definately not an ear infection, it's in the skin itself.

I stubbed my index toe several weeks ago----it hurt like hell----up until now it was just black and blue, but I noticed today that the nail is cracked along the cuticle and it is loose. Should I pull it off now or should I let it fall off naturally?

Well, I was playing American Football today at a game and was returning a punt. When I got tackled my ankle twisted backwards uun a full 180 degrees it was horribly painful. The trainer attached an ice pack to it and taped it. But that was 6 hours ago. Ive been icing but my ankle and lower leg have swelled and bruised very much and i cant bear weight on it at all. Im wondering if I really should go to the hostpital. Whats could be wrong?

On wednesday I accidently shut my cat's tail in the door, as I fumbled to open it he tore the crap out of my right foot. It has 16 puncture wounds, mainly on the back where he grabbed it to try to pull himself forward, and several scratches on the front. He'd just been outside, so his claws were probably dirty.

So the long and short of it is that two of the worst puncture wounds around the ankle are swollen, very very tender, red, hot, and leaking pus. The fot hurts to walk on too, and I can't sleep well.
Should I go to a doctor? Or just keep rubbing antiseptic on it? I feel pretty stupid going in for what look like small cat claw wounds, but it hurts like hell.

I WAS IN THE AUDITORIUM AT SCHOOL AND I WAS DIRECTING A PLAY AND I NOTICED THAT A LIGHT WAS OUT SO I ASKED TO CLIMB UP TO THE CAT WALK AND TAKE CARE OF IT. I PLAYED WITH THE WIRES AND COULDNT GET IT TO WORK SO I OPENED THE BACK OF THE LIGHT. I PULLED THE BULB TO TRY TO GET IT OUT TO CHANGE IT. WHEN I PULLED THE BULB THE BULB CAME OUT BUT THE SOCET PART DID NOT. I PULLED THE SOCET PART AND THAT IS WHEN IT HAPPEND. IT MADE MY MUCSLES CONTRACT AND IT HELD ME THERE WHICH SEEMED LIKE FOREVER. I HAD TO SCREAM DOWN TO THE CLASS TO TURN THE LIGHT BOARD OFF. WHEN IT WAS OFF I WAS ABLE TO GET FREE AND I STOOD UP. I WAS STILL ON ADRINALIN WHEN I CAME DOWN THE LADDER AS FAST AS I COULD. WHEN I GOT DOWN I SAW THESE HUGE BLISTER LIKE THINGS ON MY LEFT HAND AND IT CAUSED ELECTRICAL BURNS. THEY HAD TO CALL AN AMBULANCE AND ALL THE SCHOOL OFFICIALS WERE THERE WITHIN 2 MINUTES. I KNOW NOW THAT I COMPLETED THE CIRCUT WITH MY THUMB AND INDEX FINGER ON MY LEFT HAND. TELL ME UR THOUGHTS, PLEASE!

I have a bad knee that has given me problems since I was 11. I'm 46 and started back exercising. I'm overweight and need to lose, I know that, but when exercising this past week I've injured my old "football" knee. (I've previously dislocated it twice and was dx'd with chondromalacia a long time ago). I just basically avoid stairs and don't put a lot of strain on it, avoid sitting in one position where it will lock up on me. What type of knee brace would be best? There are a LOT of different types. Any one brand better than another?

I have had problems with my kneecap moving on me for years. I have had no recent problems but I went exercising last week and was using the aerobic step, and they have this one machine where you place it on your shoulders and bend your knees, stooping into a sitting position like you are sitting in a chair. I started having pain in my knee after that, and it's been giving out on me when I put weight on it. Now today I have the sensation of a rubber band snapping on the inside of my kneecap, and there is a lot of pain. What does all this signal? Does anyone recognise any of the warning signs I'm having and can you guess as to what is wrong? I did have an mri done about 12-15 years ago and they told me the lining inside my kneecap was thinning from the injuries (I'd dislocated my kneecap several times from age 11 to my 30's, which is why it moves on me, the ligaments are loose on each side is what I was told)...I don't have medical insurance right now.

It's still very very purple and doesnt seem to be going to the yellow stage which is the remenents of the red blod cells...billiruben. It isn't sensitive like a bruise is usually tender to touch. Does anyone know what the problem may be, a blood problem or something, i think im anaemic im only 17, and it may have nothing to do with it. But is there anything i can put on it, apart from arnica, which hasnt done anything for a week. Thank you

I tore one of my lower back muscles back in May 2006 whilst playing netball. I was checked out at the hospital and given some fabulous drugs. I had 3 months off netball but have been going back on and off since end of July. It still isn't right and I still get pain and am scared to put 100% in case I injure myself further.

Anyone know how long I should leave it until going back to netball fulltime? Anyone know anything I can do to get my back back to normal quicker?

I have tried Chiropractor and Osteopath but they can't do anything for me. Massages help slightly but I am so sore afterwards, plus she says she cannot really do anything for me because the fibres that were torn have clumped together and are causing pressure on my spine! Any help would be sooo appreciated, I'm desperate to get back to exercising!

"Don't lift things when your feet are too close together. If your feet are closer than shoulder width you'll have poor leverage, you'll be unstable, and you'll have a tendency to round your back."

From the above, what does "round your back" mean??

ok, here we go, it say's- The c2-3 level reveals disc desiccation with a minimal broad based disc buldge of approximately 1.5mm without significant central or neural foraminal narrowing.
the c3-4 level reveals no significant disk buldging or protrusion. the central canal & foramen seem widely patent.
the c4-5 level reveals a mild broad based disc buldge of approximately 2.0mm with mild centraland mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.
the c5-6 level reveals a mild central disc protrusion of approx. 2.0-3.0mm with mild central canal narrowing.the neural foramina appear widely patent.
the c6-7 reveals a broad based disk buldge of approx. 2.0mm causing mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.
the c7-t1 level is unremarkable.
****************** i have no clue what this all means. A little bit of an idea from research, but my dr. did not explain it well enough to me. And was in a hurry. I know im in pain 24/7, and my next step is injections to fill something thats making me numb

I used to work in a kitchen of a nursing home. Sometimes I'd converse with residents and about thier need. Suddenly, someone falls and splits thier head open and it's bledding. My reaction in to get some towels and some ice and call a nurse. The nurse on the other hand, gets a book out, and starts reading about causes of falls and head injuries. Am I right to adminster to a person in immediate need for health care now? Or is the nurse right for reading in a book as to the cause of the symptoms? I saw an immediate need to help the injured person. The nurse however, say the need to analize the paitent who now has a pool of blood and a giant bump on thier head, by reading about it in some medical book. Isn't there a difference between health treatment when needed now, versus long term health history and care in the long range? No wonder people die from "text book health care mentality" workers. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

OK, I know I should've been wearing shoes #1.

So beyond that fact, I pulled the stem from my foot and apparently there is a piece still embedded under the really thick skin. Now it's sore, red, and swollen. How do I remove the tiny piece still in my foot or will it come out on it's own?

all over your entire body, by say being doused in gasoline and then set aflame, what would happen to your skin? Would it char, peel, melt? How long would it take you to heal completely? Months? Years? Decades? Would you ever look normal again?

The time between injury and results are needed to find out who was responsible and the guilty party being brought to justice. The child is fine with no lasting medical problems. The worst abuse is knowing someone could hurt them . Hopefully the child is young enough not to remember the abuse. Thanks for the information.

Ok so heres the story--thank you if you actually take the time to read this.. When i was about 11, my knee began to get "charlie horses" not a big deal--doctor said i would grow out of it--well around the age of thirteen my knee(s) began to actually dislocate all the way to the sides and in which case i had to go to the hospital and have them put back in place.. I then got a surgury 3 years later--and am still wearing a brace today because the surgery didnt help...but no problems.. Ok well then this starts... about 3 months ago i began to get really bad cramps in my toes.. to where i could walk and had to "ease" the cramps"charlie horses" out of them... only happened when i was dancing or walking a long distance..last night i was lying on my bed... and my middle rigth toe actually dislocated all the way to the side--it has never done this beofre!! i popped it back in place.. and everything was 100% ok as it was with my knee once i put my joint back in place again/// WHAT IS THIS?
