This is kind of a broad question because doctors get paid a wide range of salaries. It mainly depends on your level of training and your specialty. Straight out of medical school, one goes into internship and residency training during which you typically start out between $35,000 and $45,000 a year. This usually increases by small amounts each year through residency. Once you're out of residency, your salary increases significantly, no matter what specialty you choose.

Generally, pediatricians make the least, though I know of many who do very well. It all depends on how much you want to work. Many pediatricians start out at around $100,000 a year.

I believe interventional cardiology is currently the most lucrative specialty on average. Many interventional cardiologists make in the $700,000 to $800,000 per year range.

If you have a special niche or are in a market that will pay you (eg you're the best plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills) you can make millions yearly.
