Aw, you don't mean it, just your little joke? Yes they do get extra long holidays when you're forking out for their education but see it as a bonus.

Relish it now before the teenage clashing sets in. When the doors start coming off their hinges and you're receiving endless requests for money and too much freedom you'll be wishing you could press the rewind button. Only around 12 years when our children actually enjoy our company so make the most of every minute of the school holidays. It'll never be this good again.

Concentrate on the child/childrens' interests. Poor souls spend far too much time homeworking, producing projects and toeing the line. We had far less pressure on us when we were at school.

Forget the housework. Your children won't have fond memories of a gleaming home when they're older but they will remember the bike rides, group trips with other children tramping about in the woods & making shelters, London trips to free pageantry, free galleries, free museums or if you're flush, cinema or theatre, seaside trips in the winter, christmas shopping in a strange town or market. At home making decorations and tree decorating, cooking with you, cooking and experimenting on their own from age 7, photos/scissors/glue & collages.

Loved it all.

Please note, a minimum of technology, that's just a time filler...

and enjoy the holidays.
