My girlfriend cut herself on her left wrist while cooking about three weeks ago. We went to the emergency and they said there were no arteries severed. She got stitches and have been taken out. She finds that it is hard to bend her wrist, and she is feeling discomfort in the palm of her hand. When she is sitting on the floor, she can't push her self up with her left hand. What kind of exercises, physiotherapy could she do to strengthen her hand/wrist?

Possibility of nerve damage? Did the doctor say anything about that? To strengthen try using light d.b., hold in hand palm up and let the d.b. roll almost out of hand towards end of fingers with wrist going down, stop. Then bring d.b. back up while flexing wrist up towards you. Make sure to keep forearm stationary on stable surface. Do that until you're using fairly heavy weight (15-20 lbs) then proceed to using chin ups, pull ups, and farmer's walk (carry weight in both hands, d.b. preferred, around a room for 20-30 sec. try for 3 sets). If not help seek a P.T.'S help.

take a weight bar and tie a rope round it with a lil bit of weight or start without any first but her arms straight out have her roll the bar up then roll it back down but start slowlyy !
also try those stress balls they are great for strengthening hands

BUT if she has any tingling or numbness seek medical help as that is do to nerve damage or involvement:) take care

Since it was a cut not a sprang or anything like that she needs to go to the doctor. It COULD be nerve damage.

i slit my wrist and got stiches.... the only thing you can do is let it heal... it has to form a scar before you can do anything with it. you can do any exercises with it because it needs to heal.
