Recent studies of overweight children have suggested over 90% of overweight and obese children under the age of 15 have no genetic propensity causing them to be overweight. Similarly, parents of these children often allow them to eat whatever they want. I am a 26 year old male 16-stone(about 220pound) 5foot eleven inche. I put on nearly 5 stone in a year starting 2004 and have now lost nearly 3 stone again through diet and exercise. I put the weight on around the time i left the army. For past two weeks i have been running nearly 5 miles 5 days out of 7, since stopping smoking a few weeks back. Just wondering if due to my current weight there is any risk of heart attack from doing so much. Bearing in mind my weight, hieght, age and past army fitness(i left army in sept 2004).

He is 9, and I have to watch what he eats often so that he does not bulk up any further. I have enrolled him in Karate in which he loves, but he LOVES to eat. The kids on the bus make of of him and called him "Fatty." This bothers him a lot. I don't think he is really overweight, but it is borderline. It just breaks my heart when he comes home and tells me about these kids. Suggestions? Restrict his food intake and tell him why? Or just restrict his food intake? Help.. He is just a kid.
