No, not if you work within your strength limits and have adequate training on form and lifting, use of machines. Learn how to do it right, and don't take fellow workout people's word for things...I have seen more people lifting badly than I can shake a stick at! Do it right, do it the right amount, and you will do very well. Do it badly, overdo it, and you will injure yourself for LIFE!

I've never heard of anything like this. The inside of the bones are alive and actually start multiplying cells when the bones have weight put onto them.
We have a special gym just for this age, and as long as they stay within their limits, it's very healthy. They should have some qualified guidance as well.

yes, your bones become so dense that you dont grow up but you stunt your growth.... look at the gymnasts, they are all short and stumpy. why? they exercise the hell out of their bodies but rarely reach 5'5''
