I know the paper i was given with what to do said no smoking but im not sure if that was just for the first day bc they wanted the holes to clot and smoking stops that, so i wonder if its ok for me to smoke a cigarette today if i had them removed yesterday morning.

last friday i went to the dentist as my gums were swollen on the right side of my face. they gave metronidazole to try combat it, these didnt work. so i went back and i was given a high dosage of amoxicillin and some tablets to take wif the metronidazole, but the metronidazole give me a headche all day long, i told the dentist this and he recomended i stop takin it, so now im just on amoxicillin but the infection is starting to spread to the other side of my face. i have been dentist the past 3 days and nothing seems to be working, i have had this infection for 6 days, and in that time i have not a decent nights sleep or a decent meal as i cannot open my mouth properly. if the medicine doesnt work what would be the next course of action? its really stressing me out and i also have a heart murmur, which i believe has been brought on by stress, the dentist just keeps giving me drugs to take, but i want action, its sheer agony

three weeks ago i found a sore pink patch on my tongue, with two wart type things(which were white & alittle painful),went to my dentist who did"nt seem to be worried by it,i also went to my doctor, who said there was nothing in my mouth to worry about it was normal,i told me to just get on with my life,& stop thinking about it.it"s still alittle painful,i also suffer from health anixety which could be making this alot worse than it is,i am still very worried because the pain won"t go away neither will the wart type things,DO I NEED 3RD OPINION?

I'm awaiting my appointment in May to see how my repositoned tooth is healing and to see if it is ready to be filed down to even out with the rest. But I'm worried its too much tooth to file down. I'm talking about my front top tooth, the displaced tooth was put back in place but wasnt able to go all the way in due to swelling and blood. So it is slighty longer than the other by 2 or 3 mm, cant measure it right in my mouth heh. I was told "We can file it down" but im thinking its too much. Is 2 mm or 3 mm too much to file down off the bottom of one of my big front teeth on top? Or do I have to get a crown or veneer if I ever want a normal smile again and not look ridiculous with one long tooth?

I had 3 bottom molars pulled all the same day. 2 on the right, one on the left. Minor gum pain, and slight bruising on my cheek occurred the day after. It's almost been a week and my gums are still sore - which is expected. However, the right side where the two are pulled, are more sore than the others. I looked in the mirror today, and it felt like bone was exposed, possibly my jaw bone coming through. Could this be why it's so sore? I've been rinsing with warm salt water since I got them pulled, and once a night rinsing with diluted mouthwash. I don't know what else to do other than to continue taking my prescribed ibuprofen and penicillin. Is this dry socket? And should I see my dentist if i'm still in pain after a full week? And if I see him, should I pay him for the services?

I've noticed gum recession over the past year... since then I've been very careful with brushing slowly and softly with an extra soft brush and floss daily.. my dentists say I do not have gum disease...I do have some questions to prevent further recession

1. Will Sonicare cause recession? Or can I get away with careful brushing with a soft brush? I realize Sonicare is probably the best cleaning tool but am scared about being too hard on the gums

2. Will Invisalign cause recession? I have a minor case my teeth moving due to not wearing a retainer. I don't need to get Invisalign but may do it for cosmetic reasons. However, if the moving of my teeth could promote future recession - I'll think twice

3. Should I use mouthwash and if so - what's the best kind to prevent recession? A non-alcoholic, natural brand like Tom's?

4. I floss daily but am afraid to go down the side of the tooth beneath the gums because I feel this will cause future recession. What's the deal?

thx!!!

I had braces twice. I have many problems with my teeth. Beginning with braces, the first time at age 15, they didnt work. The second time i got braces at age 21, there wasnt even space for them to go back, so now my teeth relapsed, and our a little buck. My first dentist had also filed 3 of my molars saying he was correcting my bite, but it just made me start grinding my teeth at night. I wear a nightguard at night now. I have trouble chewing cuz most of my teeth are flat. I have many fillings, root canal, crowns, swollen gums, relapsing teeth that hurt. I hate my teeth, They not only look bad, but are also unhealthy. Should i remove all my teeth and get dentures at age 25? Are dentures very uncomfortable? I have dental insurance, but i'm not sure if it will help me cover for these reasons. I have been very depressed, I need advice. Thanks!
