TRIXI,
SWOLLEN GUMS MAY BE CAUSED BY GINGIVITIS. THE ULCERS MAY BE CAUSED BY NUMEROUS CONDITIONS, BUT A VERY COMMON ONE IS HERPETIC ULCERATIONS BY THE HERPES VIRUS.
EATING FAST FOODS HAS NOTHING TO DO IT.
TARTAR, BETTER KNOWN AS CALCULUS, CAN ONLY BE REMOVED USING SPECIAL TOOLS BY THE DENTIST.
ONCE THESE HARD DEPOSITS ARE REMOVED THE GUMS WILL START TO HEAL AND GO BACKTO NORMAL.

I don't think eating fast food would necessarily give you swollen gums or ulcers in your mouth. Swollen gums can be a sign of gum disease. Good dental hygiene, such as regular brushing and flossing will prevent gum disease, but you should go to a dentist to get a check up if you can. The ulcers might be canker sores. Canker sores are little sores that are extremely painful, and usually take a few days to almost a couple of weeks to heal. Nobody is 100% sure what triggers a canker sore, or why some people get them more than others. They might be viral, a herpes virus, or triggered by food or chemical allergies, like in some toothpastes. There are toothpastes made without SLS, sodium laureth sulfate, which may be a cause of canker sores in people with sensitive mouths.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

It is time to see the dentist, and get those teeth cleaned. Your swollen gums come from tartar under you gums, and you will end up with gum disease, then it really gets to be painful. The tooth brush can only do so much,as far as removing plaque, and tartar from your teeth, that is why you need to go to the dentist, so they can clean the areas that you can not. As soon as you get those teeth cleaned, your gums will start to heal, and the ulcers will diminish.

to avoid swollen or puffy gums you need to brush twice a day including your gum and FLOSS, get dental pro cleaning every 6 months.
after what you said i think you need some deep cleaning or maybe even root planing if you have deep pockets. so you gotta go see a dentist or a hygienist.
sorry if you don't have dental insurance, dental can be extremely expensive when it comes to gum problems so you gotta act fast.
good luck to you.
