Hi I am a 31 year male and going to college to get Dental Assistance degree. When I've been to the dentist I've never seen a male assistant. My question to you is: Would you feel deferent or uncomfortable if it was a male assistant?

Every time i drink soda, which is every day, i try to drink it in less than an hour. I also rinse my mouth out vigorously with water, chew sugarless gum and after about an hour, i brush my teeth. i know it's not a good idea to brush right after drinking soda, 'cause the enamal on your teeth is softer and brushing, even gently, can actually do more harm than good. but what about flossing after drinking soda? i use the white glossy floss, 'cause i've had quite a bit of work done on my teeth. but i've really stepped up on brushing anf flossing properly and have only had a couple of minor problems in the last 2+ years. i'm sorry for the rambling, but i was just curious about the flossing thing... thanks!

I have imperfect, not insane, but imperfect teeth. I know of one cavity, at least. I have made an appointment for Wednesday with a General DDS. I am sort of a dentist-phobe, and need to know that I have chosen the right person to see to get me on the path towards braces or whatever I need to straighten my teeth.

Have I?

Thanks.

I still have those ridges on my four front teeth, you know at the very top across the edge. Everyone gets it on all their teeth when they first grow in as a child, and all of mine have gone away now (I'm 13) except for the two front top and two front bottom. Does anyone know why they're still there?

I took her in to the dentist and they gave her amoxicillan 500 mg and made her an appointment in another month. My question is will she be ok waiting a month for treatment. The abscess doesn't look like its getting any better and i've heard it can lead to more problems.

I was just wondering what orthognathic surgery for those with severe bilateral complete cleft lip and palate turns out like. I've had bone grafting to repair all the missing bone in my gums earlier in my childhood and it's great to see my teeth are perfectly straight! No more teeth are missing because I had more surgical intervention to extract teeth. In several months time, I'm due for an appointment with the orthognathic surgeon and the surgery itself. I'm not sure how it's going to turn out, so I'm really nervous. Any experiences anyone can share?

I also wanted to make a note that yes...like other threads have said, it is hard for people to get past appearance BUT, even though I had to put up with lots of teasing in primary, besides the three people who gave me a hard time, I was highly respected. I have good male and female friends. Character matters.

Then again ever getting a date sounds like a nightmare. Lol.

The roof of my mouth, is sore, as if it were burned, and it's a whitish around the edges and back of the teeth. It's not something i can scrape or brush off and it just showed up, at least to my knowledge, this morning. If anyone has had this or knows much about oral health, please respond and let me know what it may be.
