I assume that your orthodontist is aware of your receding chin. Has he/she talked to you about how your braces might help with this condition? If not, he should address it. Usually, if the chin is really receding, then this puts a great deal of pressure on the temperomandibular joint (the joint where the jaw bone meets the maxilla bone just in front of your ear). This can cause very painful headaches in some people and sensitve teeth from misstriking. Having your bite so out of line is not good.

Usually, when the jaw is really out of whack, it has to be fixed surgically (they go in and literally "break" your jaw and extend it artificially. This is very painful and recovery is not pleasant. Your jaws are wired shut for weeks and you have to eat liquid foods through a straw while your jaw repairs itself.

So, speak with your orthodontist. If he thinks the problem is severe enough then he will discuss your options.

While your chin certainly doesn't protrude, I have seen significantly worse receding chins. Basically, it means that your chin doesn't jute forward as compared to other people. Looking at your photo's, I wouldn't worry that much about it. There are surgical options for people who have significant conditions though.

Probably not. You may want to try losing some weight. It could make your chin more prominent. And try doing facial exercises. A more drastic measure.....chin implants.

Talk to your orthodontist about wearing headgear. It will help to bring your overbite into alignment with your mandible.
