No, Listerine does note stain your teeth, and it does not cause
gingivitis. Actually it is a mild antiseptic and if you can use it to
brush your teeth and the gumline (gently), it would help remove
some of the plaque below the gumline and improve your gums.
So using Listerine along with a toothbrush to work at the plaque
should help cure gingivitis. Your dentist would be happy.

Listerine prevents gingivitis, but according to my dentist, it does stain your teeth, though not permanently and the stain can be easily remove.
This was told to me on the day i put on my braces

I think you should stick with Listerine. $140 for that is a rip off. You can get very good results if you brush your teeth three time a day, use the mouthwash regularly, floss you teeth daily and if possible, use an inter-dental brush. That should do it.

It shouldn't stain your teeth and it works to fight ginginvitis.
