on thursday the 18 and my teeth are very sensitive and i havent been able to chew with out pain. how long will this last because ive been eating things but i smell regular food and start to starv because i know i cant chew it. So when will it stop hurting to chew because this is killing me slowly

I had braces for three years. I would say in about a week the pain and discomfort will be gone from getting the braces. Every few days you will experience some pain just because your teeth are shitfing. As well, every month when you go to the orthodontist you will experience a little bit of pain for a few days after. In the end when you get them off, every ounce of pain was totally worth it because your teeth will be perfect =]

I've been through the same thing, just try to not get into the habit of wanting the food so bad that you just can't stand it. The hurtness doesnt last long, your teeth just have to get used to having the braces on. Hang in there.

My daughter's orothodontist encourages his patients chew sugar free gum to help the teeth adjust and the pain go away faster. Surprisingly enough, it worked! She only experienced pain for a day after each adjustment.

Take some ibuprofen or naproxen for the pain and start eating. Eat soft foods like mashed potatoes, soup or scrambled eggs etc. There are tons of things you can eat and if you take the pain meds you feel much better.

Been through it, just hang in there the pain will go away. Besides the pain make sure you keep your teeth and gums clean. I am having trouble with my gums now and it has been 15 years. Good luck..

ohhh! I feel youre pain! After i got my braces on, the pain didnt completely go away for about 3 wks. It really sucks! But once you start to see results, its worth it! Just wait 'till you get bands though, it aint fun!

omg u make me feel not so alone ok i got braces a week ago and they were killing me it feels like u wanna tear them out right? but dont worry i thought people were lying when they said the pain will go away but they wernt after the first 8 days they stop TRUST ME!

what a coincidence, i got braces the 18th of december, and it started feeling normal after 3 weeks.
