I don't understand how resting your muscles between days of working out lifting weights and doing other exercises allows time to make your muscles grow. How does it work?

My Uncle has been in a coma for about 2 days, from having a stroke, now he is paralyzed on his left side, and the "massive" bleeding is occurring on the back side of his brain on the right hand side. They have done no surgery on him. Does he still have a chance? If so what are his chances?

Might be a weird question, but I was wondering if I don't want to lift weights to help my arms become more lean, would doing push-ups and tricep push-ups be sufficient? And how often?

Also - I do about 500 crunches 3 times a week, and cardio 3 times a week. If I want to have a leaner core, should I be doing the crunches everynight?

Thanks!

Today, one friend mentioned thay I had lots of illnesses. I said No I have ONE illness with lots of symptoms. My other friend agreed with me. I have the insulin resistence that comes with FM. I have the Chronic Myofascial Pain that comes with FM. I have the depression that comes with FM. I can't tolerate medications so I stay in pain. All the guy friend sees is what all I can't do. But he doesn't see what I am managing to do despite my pain. How can I get all this across to him???? I was left almost feeling defensive!

Lately, I am finding myself getting so stressed out and anxious over everyday life that I am having a great deal of difficulty making simple decisions (ie what to have for dinner), and will occasionally have difficulty breathing. This stress is being caused mainly by my job, which I have begun to take home with me ( a very bad habit). Other than making some life changes (like seeking counseling and finding a new job),how effective are anti-anxiety meds for helping someone cope well enough to think clearly and function? I'm not a total mess-just have a much, much lower boiling point than I used to. Also, how willing is the average doctor to prescribe one of these meds simply by being asked?

I have ugly toe nail fungus since almost 3 years now. I am just 31 years old and I heard that mostly old people get it. I can't wear sandales because it just looks so ugly and I am so jealous of people with nice clear nails. I already went to the doctor but she just said that there is nothing she can do since it's heredetery ( my father has it too ). The pharmacist at Walgreens told me that they have tablets (lamasil) which has to be taken at least 6 months. They cost 200 dollars a months ( insurance doesn't pay since it's ''just'' a cosmetic thing) and on top of it it can even harm the liver. He also said that it doesn't always help. Well I can't afford 200 dollars a months and I also don't want liver damage in exchange for clear nails. I also used a topical treatment but it also didn't help. It seem to stop the growing fungus a little bit but it never went away. Are there any other victims out there with toe nail fungus? Did anybody find a good treatment ? I would love to wear sandales again !!!! I am thankful for any advice.

I was thinking about getting my tongue pierced. I was just wondering if anyone out there knows how long it takes for the swelling to go down, and also if anyone knows what the proper ways of treating the piercing are until it heals.

I am trying to find a way to numb my body, so I can run faster in a 2.5k race. I know that a lot of pain relievers also bring down muscle function. What is something I can use that will only affect the pain?

It's happened within the past 15 minutes. It has almost swollen shut. I just rubbed my eye (like I do every night...) and about 5-10 minutes later, my eye is hurting, and I can't see out of it. I checked to see if it was an eyelash or something, but I can find anything. I also flushed my eye with some eye drops and it didn't do anything at all. Could someone please help me, or am I just over- reacting?

Please help me because I think I might be depressed. I cut myself even tho I know that it is wrong but it still seems to help temporarily but after I've done it I feel guilty and only want to do it again. I've thought about suicide. I can't tell my closest friends or parents because they won't understand and my parents will treat me differently possibly even be frowned upon. I feel the only people I can talk to are two male teachers at my school. But I don't want to put the weight of my problems on them. Even if I do they will tell my parents. There r more details to this story and I kno its not as bad as some ppls problems but I can't help feeling this way. I've put my parents thru enough burden already and i don't wish to do that again. I've already tried talking to a school guidance couselor and talking to her didn't really help. I feel more comfortable talking to males i know than females that i do or dont. What should I do? Should I talk to 1 of them? Answers are appreciate
