i've been doing alot of situps to firm/flatten my stomach...
but i heard it only builds muscle?
i walk/jog alot too...

hun...thats what you want...you want to build muscle...muscle helps burn calories and fat...and that muscle on ur tummy will make you look mad sexy ...keep it up..

Yes.. doing sit ups can help build muscle in turn flattening and toning your tummy... But in all honesty, doing crunches for you is better... it's the same as a sit up but you don't go all the way up.. just sit half way up and hold that position for a one or two second count...it is not nearly as stressful for your back and works the abs much more effectively.

yes, building muscle means a firm and flat stomach. if ur doing normal situps, from now on put ur arms on ur ears and when u go up hit ur elbow to ur knee. this will increase more muscle

If you want to flatten your stomach the best thing you can do for yourself is to closely monitor (reduce) your calorie intake and increase your exercise regimen.

I've lost 40 lbs through this method so I guess you could call me qualified. :)

that is correct. you can only flatten you tummy by losing fat, which requires cardio workout. You should do sit-ups in combination with the cardio for double benefit. you can have rock hard abs, but if you have a layer of fat over it you'd never know.
