I was thinking about getting my tongue pierced. I was just wondering if anyone out there knows how long it takes for the swelling to go down, and also if anyone knows what the proper ways of treating the piercing are until it heals.

All I can say is, I've seen a lot of infected tongue (and other body part) piercings.

Here's some other things I noticed about people who have their tongues pierced.

- They are constantly 'playing' with them. It so reminds me of the geriatric patients who've gotten into the habit of 'mouthing' their dentures. Click, click, click, slurp. It often has become such a habit they can't control themselves regardless of the social setting. Lovely!

- The tendency to talk like that kid on Fat Albert. "Id goed tood da stored yetterday.... slurp." It can be hard to seem intelligent, even if they are.

Please think about it some more.
