I am looking for a vegan dip. Perhaps something made out of lentils or another type. I have tried chickpeas and like it quite well, but I am looking for something different. Anyone know of a good dip? Oh by the way it is for celery and carrots etc...

im an ex-vegetarian who struggled on a vegetarian diet for many yrs and have now been forced to eat chicken and fish again for medical reasons.after trying numerous times to remain vegetarian and finnally being so weak, sick and deficient in proten that i nearly killed myself due to my ideals, but still i have veggie people accuse me of being brainwashed by the meat industry or that there is no reason for eating meat,or saying that killing animals for food is wrong. What if u were so sick u HAD TO EAT MEAT TO REGAIN STRENGTH IS THAT WRONG???IF U SAY YES THEN U NEED HELP,im so tired of having my posts removed from vegan sites,or having veggie people try to debate with me its hard enough to change without the harrassment and the pain!

We have decided to completely omit meat from our diet... we have only been eating it about once a week for years. I am having a hard time coming up with different types of things to eat. I would love to hear what your favorite vegetarian meal is.

Some questions on here recently have suggested that humans are carnivores because we have incisor teeth. While cleaning mine this morning I noticed that my incisors are just a millimeter or so longer than my other teeth, and would hardly be useful for a meat based diet. Consider that we no longer have the same appearance as our distant ancestors, then consider that animals like dogs, baboons, chimps etc which do eat meat and still have large incisors, wouldn't it be wise to suggest that evolution dictates that we now don't need meat in our diet?

I was diagnosed this week with high cholesterol. Have never had a problem till now. My job is very stressful and involves a lot of travel which is when my diet changes. What I have listed above is my diet when I am home. I am also overweight, has been all my life. I used to do karate but had to stop due to injuries, which is when the weight really started building. I am planning to get more active but long hours at work leave me with little energy. The doctor recommended an 1800 cal diet, can you help me come up with one especially in light of the vegetarian and lactose intolerant factors. I do eat eggs occasionally, in case it helps.

Old cells have been replaced everyday by new cells in our bodies. Would the new cells be as healthy as, if not healthier, than the old ones if we are vegetarians, vegans or meat eaters? As fas as I know, our body needs essential amino acids to grow healthy cells together with other nutrients like vitamins, minerals & etc... Only animal proteins provide a full spectrum of amino acids but plant proteins do not. Then vegetarian or vegan are not getting some essential amino acids which are vital in building healthy cells. In this case, vegetarians or vegans could be jeopardizing their health. I would be happy to hear comments especially from experts in medecine or nutrition science.

I don't care how you believe humans were created. Humans were made with the physical traits to be omnivores. Just look at your teeth! They are made to eat plants and meats.
Why do people think it is a good idea to avoid eating meat if we were designed to have the ability to eat meat?
Being a vegan/vegetarian is like forcing your car to run on 1/2 the fluids it needs. Who needs coolant/antifreeze? And oil- do you really need it? You can't just put gas in your car and expect it to run on only that fuel. You need other fluids to make your car function properly.
If no one lives by this example I used with cars- then why do they do it to their bodies?

I'm not telling everyone to grab a bucket of fried chicken, but there's nothing wrong with a fresh fish and some poultry.

I am sorry but who the hell gets of telling other people what they can and cannot eat. I could sit and eat bacon and burgers all day and still call myself a vegetarian and I don't really care if someone else didn't like it. Those whom call themselves vegetarians because they don't eat living things is bull, if you really never ate living things you would never eat fruit or vegetables, they were living once too! I currently am a vegetarian who does not eat fish, but say tomorrow I decided to have some nice fried mullet, guess what i would still call myself a vegetarian because i am allowed to, and that's o.k.

from my understanding vegetarians can get their protein from dairy and eggs.but since vegans don't eat any animal products where do they get their protein from?

Ive also seen a lot of vegans that are pale looking and thin hair.is this a sign of lack of protein?

We are easing our way into this though, I have stopped all buying and consumption of large mammals and I evently will stop buying poultry (its gross to eat a bird), but we will continue to eat fish sometime. My kids eat lots of veggies for 2 and 4 years old however the really protein and iron packed veggies like kale, spinach, and leafy greens they will not touch. They eat lots of broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, edamame, carrots and they like tofu (but fried unfortunately)...any advice or suggestions? thanks
