Dalda is the brand name for Hydrogenated Vegetable oil. Hydrogenated oils are main source for Trans fats. Of all the fats, trans fatty acids are considered to have an adverse effect on blood lipids and immune system.

My wife who is suffering from Ulceritis Colitis since long. If she takes food prepared with Dalda would start bleeding profusely through rectum.

We all consider Its as bad, very bad for health.
However I do not know about impotency.

Ans: When vegetable oils are hydrogenated under conditions of optimal temperature and pressure in the presence of a catalyst, the liquid oils are converted into semisolid and solid fats. This hydrogenated fat is termed as vanaspathi. Examples are dalda, kusum, rath etc. It is not true that dalda causes impotency. The good point of these fats are it can be kept even in hot and humid atmosphere for long and the bad point is the valuable essential fatty acids present in vegetable oil is drastically reduced.

Dalda is nothing but hydrogenated vegetable oil.
It is high in cholestrol and extremely bad for health, will cause blood pressure, heart disease, diabetese etc in the long term. About Impotency, I dont know as I stopped using it a long time back, probably the reason for my virility LOL!

Please do not use Vanaspathi.[DALDA is a trade mark of TATA
and only to refer TATA's product, you should use it] It is a substitute to GHEE. The comparison ends here. Ghee is made of
pure milk;while vanaspathi is a combo of many oils which we do not
use normally. The fat content is high in both the products. If we use
regularly, the blood sugar will be elevated. However, its O.K. once
in a while.

In my opinion taking Desi ghee in every meal if taken in small quantity is very good for health. If you consume desi ghee, then it is very important to do physical exercise regularly to burn the excess fat.
