Understand that I absolutely do not believe that an animals life has near the importance or relavance than that of a human beings life. On the other hand, the deplorable conditions and the unjust manner and cruelty with which some animals are treated is morally wrong. However, I am of the belief that for optimal health, ones diet should include some animal products, which for me includes only milk and eggs. That being said, even though these animals are not slaughtered to obtain the milk or eggs, I know that many of them are treated poorly and live miserable lives, and will ultimatly be slaughtered. If someone could share with me practical ways of reducing this suffering I would like to hear them. For me, becoming a vegan is not an option. I don't believe in the end it will make a significant change to the situation. A practical suggestion is one that will be endorsed by non veggies, as they are the consumers of these products and make up most of the population.

I know I am in the wrong section here but I asked this question a while ago in the beauty section and was amazed at how few people know what being vegan means!
My friend is vegan and a vet which means she has to scrub up several times a day and her hands are really suffering as a result. Can you please recommend a good, deeply moisturising hand cream? Many thanks

Trying to order a taco "with beans instead of meat, please" last night, I got a pile of BS from the three kids working there.

"We don't do that."

I wondered how I'd been managing to eat bean Taco Bell tacos for years.

"Well, we're not allowed to. The beans burn our hands."

Given the lukewarm temperature of Taco Bell beans, that was pretty risible (and what are you doing pawing at my beans, anyway? And is the meat cold or something?), but I did not want to play Grumpy Grown-Up and argue with three teen-agers making crap wages, especially not ten minutes before they closed. (There never seems to be anybody much over 16 in Taco Bells here.)

In the US I ran into a few TBs where a bean taco posed a bit of a mystery, but (1) that was a few years ago, and (2) they still managed to do it. This was in Canada; the Taco Bell Canada site says --

...well, anyway. This isn't the death knell for Taco Bell for veggies, is it?

I always thought that once food touches meat then it is contaminated and a vegetarian shouldn't eat it. Like, I can't eat a pizza even though I picked the pepperoni out.
But I have a friend who is a vegetarian but she just eats whatever but picks the meat out of is. Does that still work? Is she still veg?

Are there any good fake "fish" or "shrimp" products?? I use a lot of the Morningstar products, but I've never seen any fake fish or seafood products. Does anyone know of any? Websites (so I can see what local stores carry it) would be helpful! Thanks!

Obviously it doesnt harm animals, its from your mom and like all mothers milk is especially designed for the species' babies, theres nothing better. No hormones, (especially if the mother is careful not to eat food with hormones), and no stuff designed for cows but only stuff designed for humans.
but look at the lowest comment here:

I live in Sunnyvale, and work in San Mateo. I haven't found any at Trader Joe's. I did find some at Whole Foods, but they were very small packages and just one brand, and also expensive. Can anyone tell me where I can buy tempeh, seitan, and other vegan food products around here?

I'm looking for a recipe for vegan hot dog sauce or hot dog chili. I looked on the ingredients of a 98% Fat Free can and it was all vegan except for the beef fat. It actually had TVP in it. Who would've guessed. So if anyone knows of a recipe for hot dog chili sauce I'd love to have it.
And by the way I will be eating it with vegan hot dogs!

I don't know what site to look on to find the recipe.
I also can't find it in any of my cook books.
II'm not sure if it's a raw food recipe.
What type of oil and or vinegar do I use.
What type of rice and lentils go in it.

Any help will be much appreciated.
