I'm looking for a recipe for vegan hot dog sauce or hot dog chili. I looked on the ingredients of a 98% Fat Free can and it was all vegan except for the beef fat. It actually had TVP in it. Who would've guessed. So if anyone knows of a recipe for hot dog chili sauce I'd love to have it.
And by the way I will be eating it with vegan hot dogs!

You'll need to 'fiddle' this recipe to find the exact taste you want since the taste will vary depending on the exact ingredients you use, but it'll get you in the ballpark (hot dog pun intended).

1 pack vegan breakfast soysage patties, crumbled (MS Farms or Lightlife as example)
1/4 cup finely minced onion
1/4 cup E.V. Olive oil
2 tbsp chili powder (Adams, Bolners or Gebhardts recommended) use more or less to suit your taste!
1 tbsp paprika
1/2 tsp oregano (mexican if possible)
dash of Tabasco (chipotle works better than original)
2 tsp Masa Harina (can use equivalent amount of other thickener)

In a medium saucepan heat the oil, add spices. When fragrant add onion and cook until the onion turns translucent and pink. Mix the soysage crumbles with thickener and add to pan. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Drop heat to a simmer and cook 20-30 minutes adding water as needed to maintain a slightly runny texture.

This is a *basic* and modified version of my chili recipe (NO ONE gets my real recipe).

If you want bean less chili sauce, just mix TVP with your favorite BBQ sauce. Most large grocery stores, or health food stores carry it. Mix: 1 cup TVP 1/2 cup BBQ sauce 1/2 cup water. Spices of your choice. Let stand for a few minutes and mix again. you may need to add a little more water. TVP is textured vegetable protein. It's what is left over after they make soybean oil. Boca products contain TVP.

Hormel has an awesome vegetarian chili, though I'm not sure if it's vegan or not... but I know it doesn't have beef fat. It's kind of hard to find... I had to go to the Hormel website to find stores in my area (Target & Fred Meyers carry it, but none of our grocery stores do... go figure).

I served it to meat eaters with Morningstar hot dogs and nobody complained. :)

The best is called Chili Man. I know Whole Foods carries it if you have one near you. I know it is vegetarian, but not sure it if is vegan or not. You might be able to find it other places too.

I make a simple homemade one with organic ketchup and organic horseradish. I add a touch of fresh lime and some cumin sometimes, for a more smokey flavor. Sometimes I add a few beans
