Please note that i used the word some, the word some is completly different then the word all. I have noticed that SOME vegies get very offended because they are assuming too much when i ask a q. Is this just the way that SOME vegies are?

okay, i have recently become vegitarian. so i read the weird vegitarian sight, it also talked about vegans.

a vegan is someone who dosent eat any animal products. no meat, no dairy, no animal skins, no animal fat. nothing that comes from a creature.

alot of people become vegan bcuzz they think that its wrong how the animals don't have the right to live, or be happy. they torture cows to get milk, so basicly the whole *great cheese comes from happy cows* is a totel lie. they also bcome vegans bcuzz its much healthier.

so, this leads me to my question.

is honey vegan? it comes from a creature, but i have seen vegan people eat honey. honey comes from bee's, but bee's are not animals.

i would think it would be vegan, it comes from a creature. and to get the honey they pretty much distroy the bee hive and take all the food. so is it vegan?

my friend says it is vegan, bcuzz a bee is not an animal.

so what? bugs don't have the right to be happy or live or have a home? but pigs and chickens and cows do? that can't be right.
if vegans bcome vegans out of love for animals, how can they eat honey? so agean, bugs can't be apart of that love?

well, i am pretty sure its NOT vegan. but then agean, i am not a vegan. i am just curius, i have been thinking about the whole honey thing for a week now. i don't plan on bcomming vegan though.

so, reply to this with what you think! go ask your vegan friends! i really wanna know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHG! this really is driving me crazy!

Ok. Convince me whats so bad about eating meat. Tell me why people decide to go hardcore vegan and the majority of them mock people who eat meat. Give me realistic opinions. No stupid analogies that are off the subject, no twenty-two page blogs about why meat is bad or animals are tortured. I want realistic philosophies, honest (but not idiotic) opinions, and something besides generalizations and judgement. Go ahead. Convince me. What the hell is wrong with meat? Also, please DO NOT drag religion into this. I frankly don't give a damn about your (or any one else's) religious views on the subject.

but foxhunter guy is over here at my house begging for carrots and lettuce. I told him to get home to you and poor traumatized Dale Jr., but he says he cant face it without some nutritional yeast and a big plate of raw veggies. I promise I will not engage in anything immoral or naughty with him. I shall fix him his fix, give him a good green smoothie, and send him home to you in short order, okay my dear? I might give him some supplements and a coffee enema too, just to get him sorted out, if you don't mind

The boy is mine!

Don't think you can step in and be Dale Jr Jr's mom. That position is already taken! Snap!

Is there any difference, or is "vegan" simply a modified form of the word/term/label "vegetarian"?

Well it's happened. I can no longer justify eating another (formerly) living creature. I've had issues for a long time with eating meat...I've never thought of it as food as much as I thought of it as the animal I was eating.
My question is--I make a lot of dishes with ground beef...and now I need a substitute. I've only tried one meat substitute in my life, and that was a hot dog...and it was horrible. Mushy. I can't tolerate mushiness.
Is there a ground beef substitute that looks and feels like ground beef? Also, what is the most meat-like non meat burger patty?

My son informed me that some vegan extremist kids at his school tampered with his lunch box. He said when he bit into his ham sandwich, that it tasted gritty. Later that day, a class mate told him that the vegans had taken the ham slices and laid them on the floor and then put them back on the sandwich. My son did not actually witness it, but he does believe they did something to his sandwhich.

Should I contact the school or should I just leave the situation alone. I am afraid if I contact the school, that the vegan kids might become violent. One of the vegan kids involved has been in trouble with the police before for vandelizing a McDonalds because they sold hamburgers.

I have found I love to get sweet and sour bean curd at Chinese places, but I have no idea what it is.

So, what is it and where can I purchase it. I know in my Fred Meyers, it isn't by the tofu...so...?

i work on a crawfish farm and we use the waste water to use as fertilizer for the rice farm, we then use the rice to feed our crayfish it works both ways and this technique is used on all the fish farms listed as organic in this area, some of our old fields that were ponds are perfect area for farming and some of it used as that without the need to fertilize

i understand if your a vegan due to animal cruelty or doctors orders but anything else i would call it a mental disorder, there is plenty of meat that is not unhealthy fish being a good example, you can abuse any diet even your vegan diet, if i ate donuts and cakes all day i would probably have shorten my life dramatically, and those of you who say fish is full of chemicals and does the enviroment harm are not educated enough about farming practices and the use of chemicals, sprays, and etc. i understand there is organic and the same goes for fish farming, at the crayfish farm i worked at the farmer and us worked together he used our wasted water as fertilizer and we used his rice to feed our crayfish, we both labeled our product as organically grown, also there is the topic of diseases associated with meat, sorry isnt good enough either, all you have to do is cook your food to get rid of this problem or boil it if your really scared " same process to store canned food "

I am allergic to soy milk (even though I used to be able to drink it like a champ), and I sometimes find Rice Dream to be too sweet. I saw Almond Breeze now comes unsweetened. Has anyone tried the unsweetened Almond Breeze flavors or have any ideas for some other milk alternatives that aren’t too sweet?

Do you miss the taste of things like steak on the grill, bbq ribs, a big ol' bratwurst at the ballgame, etc? And have you found any vegetarian substitute that tastes like those things? I'd be interested to know and try something like that if it does. Most times I've tried my friend's wifes cooking (they're vegetarians) I had to add a lot of ketchup and/or hot sauce to make it more flavorful.

For those of you that are vegetarian/vegan because of animal cruelty, I know where you stand, and I agree with your decision to a point. But I'd rather not have that discussion on this thread.

I'm trying to go vegetarian, substituting nuts for meat in my food. Can I get similar amounts of protein from (eg) peanuts, almonds, walnuts and sunflower seeds? I'm a student, so sometimes I can't afford the types of nuts the recipes suggest. I do still eat fish sometimes, so it's probably not the end of the world if the difference is only slight...
