I'll explain it since it appears you've only asked one question here and I ignored the first question as being a rant (actually, I class this one as a rant also).
The question you asked was "Why do people hate me because i eat meat?". If you'd stopped there you would have gotten an entirely different reaction than what you got!! I might even have answered it!
The problem comes from your added details where you attacked veggies!
" Vegies hate me because they say i help kill animals when i eat meat, but they kill plants when they eat. Plants can grow back but so can animals. We have specail teeth for meat. Whgy do many vegies hate people that eat meat?."
You just smeared every single veggie with a pretty wide brush! In that over-generalization you just said I hate you. Can you see that would get us offended? Did you notice all the thumb-ups that PsycoCola got? Have you spent much time in this section to see just how much cr*p we take from non-veggies every day? Put yourself in our place and read your question again!
Next ask yourself if it's veggies that are attacking you or if it's animal rights activists! I got a TON of hate mail because in a recent answer I admitted that I let cattle roam my land! It wasn't veggies spewing filth at me, it was PETA types that do their darndest to offend everyone they can! I'll get hate mail for that statement but I know the difference between a veggie and an activist! If you walked out of a Planned Parenthood office and someone screamed at you for being a baby killer would you blame Xtians or anti-abortion activists? Hmm?
I've never known ANY veggie to just 'go-off' and attack a meat eater unless they were attacked first!
We also tend to get irritated about your comment about human dentition! We see that comment here every day and it's just not true! Search for the question "Did you know that your teeth were designed to chew up meat?" to see the best darned answer about our teeth! That might also help you to better understand why we get irritated with your question!
I consider your stressing the word "some" to be inflammatory along with that last comment " Is this just the way that SOME vegies are?".
What if the question was "Why do SOME Cali boys get offended very easily when asked a q?" .
Admit it, doesn't that sound offensive to you? :-)

well, what exactly are you asking these vegetarians? If it is something offensive, then they'll get offended! if not, then i suppose they will not get offended. I agree with the first answerer, everybody is different and different things offend different people. the people who are offended may have personal issues or were nagged by a family member about somethng before. For example my dad used to tease me all the time and dangle meat in front of my face and was generally very disrespectful about my choice to be vegetarian, at this point i don't let him other me but sometimes I am on guard when someone else teases me like that. It's because I can't stand that immaturity anymore. The people who are offended either can't take a joke (if it is a light hearted comment), have heard it all before and don't want to hear ita gain, think you are puttiing them on the defensive or judging them....
maybe change the way you are asking them the question, make sure they know you aren't trying to judge them, but are just simply curious...
don't know ifthat helps...

One of the problems is that many vegetarians and vegans have been repeatedly attacked for making a decision not to eat meat. Some meat-eaters seem to take offense, as if a vegetarian's refusal to eat meat is some kind of personal attack or affront. Take a look at some of the questions that have been asked here in the past, and you'll see just how rude and nasty those people can be.
Under the circumstances, it's not surprising that some vegetarians become defensive or go on the offense themselves. They may be over-reacting to your questions, or something in the way that you word your posts may be triggering that defensive posture.
And to be fair, there are some meat eaters who are very defensive about their dietary choices. They say that they get attacked by vegetarians and vegans for their decision to eat meat, too.
A touch of paranoia seems to be a fairly common thing on both sides of the issue.

We get daft people with stupid questions, why are you a veggie, how long have you been a veggie, what would you do if all the vegetables ran out in the world... It is as if we're leppars, my boyfriend eats meat, it isn't an issue, I will never try to change him, it's just my thing. I'm not one of those who preaches it!!! I just hate those who make fun out of it as if it's completely alien, they're just a little sad.xxx
P.S Beebs is right, thanx babes. xxx

hey im vegetarian and have been for about a year. i think some vegetarians do get offended but doesnt every1 ?! for me personally i eat quorn(the meat alternative) and i always get asked "if you dont want to eat meat, why do you eat something that tastes and looks like meat" well its a good question, but its just i prefer it and i like being a vegetarian and i do get quite offended when people do ask that but i know they only want to know the answer, so i dont blaim them. So i guess thats why we do get offended beacause some people dont understand why we dont eat meat. well i hope this helps !!

Sometimes vegetarians get teased an taunted by others, some may get harassed a lot. So even if a question a person posted means no harm, sometimes it can be taken as trying to taunt us. It mainly boils down to mis communication and mis understanding.

I think many veggies are just tired of having to defend their personal choice. When you mention you are veggie, meat eaters hackels go up, and they think you are some crunchy earth mother, granola crunching, carrot nibbling anorexic hippy. Nothing could be further from the truth. No one should have to defend their personal choices. People are more passionate about food choices than anything else, including religous choices. I no longer defend my choices, but when I did, it got tiring, and I often was easily offended

We are all given or give ourselves labels! We all respond to people on our views of those labels! I think you should be asking yourself, "What did I say that they Could have found offencive?" If people get offended with YOU try reversing the situation in your mind! Is it them assuming too much from the question, or your question assuming too much about Veggies in general.

Your last question caused offence because you implied that lots of vegetarians hated you for eating meat.
We did not believe you as few people compassionate enough to become vegetarians or vegans will bully people.

maybe you are being argumentative and youre tone is rude. it doesnt matter what the issue is, but if youre patronizing, some people will get mad no matter what. also maybe they dont want to answer your questions. im a vegetarian, but not necessarily interested in talking about it to anyone who asks.
