Somewhere i heard that your stomach stops producing an enzyme that helps break down meats in your stomach, and if you eat it again, you'll upchuck or something. Is this true? and if so, how can i avoid it?

If so, what made you be a veggie? Me, I always have been since I saw a horrific video on animals being killed.

If you eat meat, could you go veggie for a full year?

This is a question for my fellow vegetarians. Do you have a favorite cookbook or do you know of one that you think is well put together? I'm looking for a good one to purchase so your help would be appreciated. FYI: I'm vegetarian, not vegan, therfore I eat dairy products so the book can contain them.

I am a vegetarian and I have 4 pet chickens and a cow. (well he is a bull that I bought off of a farmer that he was actually going to keep and use for VEAL!!!! Some people are sick and cruel) Anyways I consume the eggs my chickens lay. Like I said though, they are pets. I work construction; therefore I have built them a home (a heated one at that, also, Jake the bull has his own place), I also put a gate around their home for night time so nothing gets in there after them. Besides night, they can roam as they please. I pet them, get them medicine when they are sick, and spend time with them all daily, but like I said, I do consume their eggs. I just want to know what you think of me doing that and why you think that way. Thank you for all of your input, and have a wonderful day!!!!

Is it normal to have more bowel movements being a vegetarian? I have been a vegetarian for about a month and a half now and I was just curious. Sorry if this is inappropriate.

Hello. I'm a vegetarian and is strongly against animal cruelty. Now, I'm hearing that PETA was or is abusing animals in some kind of way? Is that true? because I'm in Peta.

Hey, I took everyone's advice on here and decided to pick up some tofu today at the store. I put a little bit of it into a salad and ate it. I have to say, it didn't taste good at all. I was straining to finish it all. I want the vitamins from it and I want to eat it daily but I don't know if I have enough strength to force it down my throat. Is there any way I can make this taste better? Will I get used to the taste eventually?

Hello,
Animals eat other animals (sometimes even humans), so why can't humans eat them too?

If we are equal then aren't animals bad for eating other animals? Or is their mind inferior, thus they don't know the difference?

Hello,
I figure that the vegeterians would know...

what do you call people who do not eat red meat? Some vegeterians get mad when people claim that they are vegeterian but in reality they just don't eat red meat, thus they aren't vegeterians at all....

So, is there a name for them?
What about people who only eat fish?

Hello,
I'm not a vegeterian/vegan and as I post this I don't mean to say that all of you speak for PETA and agree with PETA...

But for those who are PETA supporters, can someone please explain to me why is it ok for PETA to encourage the sterilizing of home pets like dogs and cats when any other time they are crying, "don't harm the animals!"? I don't understand the logic.

People say that it is to prevent the overpopulation of these animals or to prevent future deaths becuase of the overpopulation... but that's crap to me because PETA is for "animal rights", and they should just accept the fact that domestic pets have babies, that's part of an animal's life.

To me this is hypocrtical.

So why do they encourage this and is it ok?

to live, you must eat life. and I'm tired of vegans and vegetarians labelelling and tell others what life we're aloud to eat and which we can't.
I'm not saying I beleive in mass production of these meats and of those grosse cattle factories. But why is ok to grow a garden and then kill the plants for food but its not ok to hunt a moose to eat.

One of our users likes to use a phrase that I think requires some explanation, it go's like this: "Cows give us the gift of milk, butter and cheese, and chickens give us the gift of eggs."

I have a real issue with the word 'gift' here. This is no gift; you steal these things from the animals. I've never head of a cow walking up to a human with a glass of milk and saying in her best English "Here you go, enjoy my milk!" Or a chicken doing anything like that with her eggs. That cow that is giving this 'gift' is sacrificing milk meant for it's calf. She is kept continually pregnant to make sure her milk production does not cease. I'm sorry but I don't see how a non-consenting, enslaved, captive being can give anyone a gift. What do you think?

I read Peter Singer's Animal Liberation. It was good, even if his philosophy didn't have me entirely convinced.

But for medical reasons, my diet is now further restricted. If I can't eat meat or cheese dishes (keep in mind I live in the Midwest and don't have the money to shop at health food stores), what am I supposed to eat?

I am tired of a restricted diet, but I don't know if I could overcome the guilt of knowing how the factory farms treat the animals.

And didn't humans evolve eating meat, even if we didn't start that way? Isn't beef more easily digested by our system than a fake veggie burger?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
