I have eaten meat a lifetime and see no reason for eliminating it from my diet. Is being a vegetarian for a health reason or what? I fail to understand this line of reasoning and intend no offense.

Im a vegetarian but i want to gain some muscle mass to tone up my body, i work out every other day, i take a GNC mega-multi vitamin daily, and get plenty of rest but i know that it's all a waste unless i eat alot of protein to build muscle, so are there any high protein foods out there for weight training vegetarians?

I've been paying more attention to the treatment of animals in farms and slaughterhouses, and it's really causes me to lose my appetite for meat. That said, my last foray into vegetarianism failed miserably.

You see, most vegetables make me feel ill in some way, and the rest don't seem to taste pleasant at all, with the exception of carrots, peas, corn, beans, lettuce and cabbage.
Peppers, onions, beets, pickles and cucumbers make me violently ill, so a LOT of vegetarian recipes are rendered impossible, especially with my allergy to soy(I break out in hives and feel pretty awful for a while afterwards).
Thus, I'm more of a fruit guy(with the exception of starfruit, grapefruit, cantelope and tomatoes), but I don't come across many cookbooks dealing with lunch and dinner recipes involving mainly the food of my choice.
Am I seriously doomed to be malnourished and be dependent on vitamins(and killing my immune system at the same time?) to compensate for my lack of dairy, meat, and veg?

how can vegetarians live and be healthy without eating any protein? i mean do they have to drink protein shakes every day or what?and what about people in that peta cult who don't drink milk or eat cheese, how do they get calcium and vitamin d? i mean their muscles and bones must be withering away no wonder they're all pale and skinny. the healthy vegetarians must have to sneak in meat once or twice a day without anybody knowing.

ok, I have decided to switch my diet into a semi-vegetarian diet (only eat seafood), today, at lunch, I saw my mom putting something that looked like fish on a plate, and I asked her "is that a new kind of fish?" and she said yes...during lunch, my dad also said that the fish tasted good...but then mom said that she was joking that that was chicken...
I really hate the fact that she lied to me just to make me eat chicken...so I got upset and I left the table...
Can you please tell me what to do?

I have been reading ALOT of posts about vegetarianism, and it seems to me, that meat eaters and vegans just seem to not get along. Is it possible to be friends with the opposite eating preference? When you become friends with someone do you take into account what they eat?? I just think it's dumb.

A joint European-American study was published in nature this month which has unearthed some frightening new facts about vegetarianism. Proffesors Gurtz, Kline, Sampson and Randall have examined the corpses of two thousand western vegetarians and discovered a 900% incidence of nano-brain syndrome. It is thought that concentrated B12, found only in the green leaves of vegetables, works as a Miloplast and reduces the volume of the brain in vegetarians. In nearly two thirds of the deceased, their brains were smaller than a walnut.

Knowing the dangers, will anyone out there listen and start to eat healthily again?

Who is better, a vegetarian or someone who eats meat as part of their diet? Well, the answer is straight forward. Neither, they are both equal. They both enjoy the same basic human rights; which is why, as a meat eater, I make sure I ask for meat whenever I have dinner at one of my vegetarian friends' houses.
Whenever a vegetarian makes things awkward at a dinner party, whenever you have to prepare a seperate dish to accomodate a fussy eater of the vegetarian persuasion, remember - the next time they invite you over to eat a nut-roast or to try a meat free lasagne - tell them you want them to cook you a steak.

Ok. You talk about cruelty to animals and I totally agree with how cruel it is the way they are raised and treated before they become food on our dinner plates. But I was wondering, has it ever been disproven that plants have feelings? When we pluck tomatoes or pick green beans, isn't that cruelty to vegetables? Please let me know what you think of this. Thank you.
