Without protein? Protein is in everything. Whole grain products, beans and nuts are high in protein. Calcium can be found in lots of foods as well and Vitamin D comes from the sun. It's near impossible for anyone in a developed country to suffer from lack of protein. My whole wheat bagel this morning had 10 grams of protein alone.
I hate to break it to you but you apparently have no knowledge of nutrition and are victim of meat propaganda. Next time look these things up before you make a fool out of yourself.

I am a vegan and I am very healthy. I'm a hell of a lot healthier than I ever was before. I work out 4 times a week and I have big healthy muscles that I have gained since I've become vegan. No one would guess by looking at me that I'm vegan. I don't fit your stereotype of a pale and sickly vegan at all. I have never once eaten meat, milk or eggs in the year and a half that I've been vegan.
It's not that hard to be healthy as a vegan. All you have to do is eat lots of vegetables, fruits, grains, beans, and nuts. My diet is varied, healthy and tasty!
It's a myth that it's hard to get protein, calcium and other things from non-animal sources. A pound of broccoli has more protein than a pound of beef, soy has even more than that. Almost all foods except sugar, fat and alcohol have protein.
Calcium is easy to get, too. Milk is actually a pretty poor source of calcium. Green vegetables are full of it. Your body can use calcium from plants easier too. If you want more than that, commercial soymilk is enriched with calcium.
Where do you think animals get the stuff you find in their meat and milk? You're really just getting it second-hand from them.
It's kind of funny. Recently, I was at family gathering. I hadn't seen many of these people for 3-4 months. As soon as I walked through the door, they all started telling me how healthy I looked. I lost weight, I gained muscle, my skin was glowing, etc. Not ten minutes later, they were all asking me how I could do something so extreme as to be a vegan. They didn't even make the connection.

Actually Cliff, I hate to break it to you but I think that Vegetarians are healthier than us - meat eaters.
My daughter is 14 yrs old and has been a vegetarian for a few years now. She is healthier than the rest of the family. She is 5' 9" and at a very healthy weight. The last time she got a cold / flu was during her meat eating yrs. Her allergies have disappear completely and is completely healthy. And like BEEBS above, my daughter also has great shiny hair, perfect teeth (never needed braces) a great body (could easily be a model with her height and beauty @ only 14) and always gets compliments out in public too.
Animals are being produced at a very fast rate to feed massive amounts of people, and are injected with hormones to produce thicker meat, in addition they add preservatives and additives to preserve the meat until it gets to you. In essence you are eating all that. Vegetarians also believe in not hurting animals - so why sneak off a piece of meat?
~ true vegetarians do not sneak out meat every now and then, they stand by their convictions. In fact I think they have stronger moral ethics and loyalty, and an extremely strong will power than you and I.

My religon is catholicism, my dietary and life style preference is vegan. So why do GPS recommend' five a day from fruits and veg' if it is so un healthy? How come I have never seen a vegetarian on 'You are what you eat' or 'Diet doctors' inside and out? I know exactly what goes into an organic salad. Do you know what goes in to sausages? Even meat eating doctors recommend eating meat NO more than 3 times per week to be a healthy omnivore. Excessive meat consumption can cause morbid obesity, high blood pressure, cancer and kidney stones. Can sprouts do the same dammage? - No!
Have you ever seen Gillian McKeith weilding a tub of sprouts at someone and screeching 'you seriously need to cut down on these babies'? No, I haven't either. She normally has a bucket of the guts they use to make pork pies or sausages etc.
As for 'sneaking in meat' we hate the stuff , don't you get it, LOL!!
If I had to pick 'steak' or 'starve' I'd pick 'starve'.
Your kind give omnivores a bad name !!

Meh, foxhunter_guy was much better. I mean, "the healthy vegetarians must have to sneak in meat once or twice a day without anybody knowing"? Get some new material.

Look at an elephant. Completely vegetarian.
He eats peanuts and greens. Did you know that legumes with corn provide the perfect protein.
I grew up in a meat eating environment but am now working on going vegetarian. Not just for the health benefits which are great. but for the fact that animals are full of diseases, mad cow disease
etc. etc. take the pig, he doesn't live that long because they almost always die of cancer before their 7 years old if there not eaten first. besides that they are scavengers which eat any dead thing they can, plus other non mentionable. Need I go on. Give me a mean lentil soup, with toasted french bread and a lovely tossed salad and I'm in seventh heaven.

There are many many ways that vegetarians remain health.
One way is they have meat subsitutes. Veggie burgers are on option. They can also take medications that will help with that.
And for the health vegitarians they dont eat meat they just take the right steps to be a vegitarian. Vegitariasn are health 2.

I am neither pale nor skinny, and have been vegetarian for years. I don't need to sneak meat, as I get protein from beans, legumes. grains, vegetables, and other sources. If you had a basic clue about nutrition or vegetarians, you would see its easily done. I have a perfect figure, shiney. long thick curly hair, super long, strong natural nails, and a flawless complection. I get compliments on my good looks several times a day, by complete strangers. When I was eating a meat based diet, however, I was overweight, and crippled in a wheelchair for 12 years. Now, I am fine-athletic, and active, and totally upright. I hate to poke holes in your flimsy theory, but you really should educate yourself before spouting off about something you clearly know nothing about. Eat your meats if you want, your choice. But don't go bashing healthy veggies just to make yourself look better. At a recent high school reunion, myself and 3 other vegetarians were clearly healthier, leaner, more fit, and far less wrinkled than our meat eating peers.

there are many other and healthier protein sources that don't come from swine, cattle, poultry or fish. legumes and soy are very healthy and better for your digestive system. beef especially doesn't digest in your colon well and is the number one reason for causing constipation. try ataking a nutrition class at a local community college to learn more. you'll be surpised to find out how unhealthy eating animal products is. and how easy it is to eat a healthy balanced diet without meats and dairy.

I get protein from boca, which is vegetarian entrees such as burgers, niggets, etc and all of these are soy products. Also, I eat grains and starting to drink soy milk. Ummm I'm not skinny at all nor pale, actually i'm not able to be pale due to my skin complection, I'm native american mixed. I don't eat any kind of flesh as you said healthy veggies sneak and eat it. I eat vegetables and fruits. 'm living a great lifestyle without eating flesh because they have to suffer to please humans. You are able to live without meat! And us vegetarians prove we can. Now, I don't know where you get your information from but it is totally wrong. I recommend it to anyone who thinks that eating flesh is horrible and nasty. It had many benefits such as good health(less risk of diseases and sickness from high cholestrol, great body of you workout, etc.)
Well have a nice day! (@_@)
