I find your question to be not either dumb or inappropriate. When I first went veggie, I wondered the same thing. Here is the good news! You are doing exactly as you should be. Your body is responding well to you being a vegetarian. Think of babies, before we pollute their bodies with meat and artificial stuff. They go after every meal! I researched this, and found that if a human is not having a bowel movement at least three times a day, they are chronically constipated. You should go within an hour of every meal-which gets rid of the meal you had before. Celebrate this! It can be a bit inconvenient, but I feel good knowing my body is eliminating stuff on a regular basis. Congrats on the success of your veggiehood. Proof that it is effective. Meat plugs up the body and is hard to digest-veggies and fruits are not. Think of it as having given your body a good dose of liquid plumber! lol Meat can stay in the digestive track for a long time-the human body simply does not know how to digest protein so similar to its own. I suspect you will get alot of really boneheaded answers-I hope I am wrong

I sure wish I went more being a vegetarian. If anything, I had the opposite problem. I was more of a breadatarian though. Good for you!
To beebs: Don't buy into that colon cleanse advert crap. Going after every meal is NOT required. People's BM habits vary tremendously.

Yes because you are probably consuming a lot more fiber. That's a good thing. Most people don't eat the recommended amount of fiber in a day. That's why there are products out there such as Metamucil and Beneful - it helps keep people "regular". I believe a high dietary fiber intake is associated with a reduced risk of colon cancer which is another benefit.

Not inappropriate at all.
The short answer is yes.
The longer answer is that when a person eats whole, healthy foods, the body uses the energy from those foods more efficiently and well, you poop more.
It doesn't require much in the area of odor removal in the bathroom, either.
I've also noticed that we have so much LESS garbage for the garbage pickups--amazing.
Good luck

Definitely! If I eat too many fruits and veggies, I will even get really bad diarrhea. I get cramps especially bad if I eat salad, as well. That happened to me just last night, as a matter of fact. I ate too much salad and did I ever suffer for that!

Absolutely normal and much healthier.
Your body is supposed to get rid of
waste, not retain it. It's not a dumb question
either. We all wondered if it was normal
when we first converted.

It's normal. Meat products (esp beef) take a LONG time to go through your digestive tract. You're getting more fiber, thus the result in more bathroom time.
Good for you! I hope you are feeling better. Do you miss any of the "other" foods? Are you dairy-free too?
