If people want to be vegetarian, let them. If people want to eat meat, let them. Everyone should be entitiled to make their own choices without criticism, don't you think?

Absolutely, did you know that the BMNES says that we all need a healthy, balanced, nutritious diet that includes red meat and dairy.

- Red meat is a rich source of minerals such as iron and zinc.

- Red meat is an important source of many types of vitamins, particularly B vitamins, and vitamin D. In fact, red meat is now recognised as an excellent source of vitamin D and is considered the largest natural source of vitamin D.

- Dairy products are a good source for calcium, protein, vitamin B12, vitamin B2, vitamin A and D, and vitamin Zinc.

In addition, one of my medical journals stated "people that do not consume dairy are calcium deficient".

I guess I'm out of the loop. I thought that anybody who didn't eat meat was a vegetarian. Now I hear that they eat seafood. I'm lost.

Personally, I don't like the taste or texture of most meats, but I can't give up pepperoni on my pizza, bacon, etc. I'm just selective. So I'm not going to be converted to a different lifestyle or anything.

Just curious.

they react calmly and rationally. Same for if I say I am a jogger, writer, a patient, a client. etc, yet when I tell someone I am a vegetarian, they get all defensive and passionate about their opinion on the matter?

I think they are missing the point.
A Vegetarian diet can be very healthy but I believe meat eaters who eat healthy and stay away from fast food are better off than Vegetarians who eat fast food.

I've been calling myself a vegetarian for a couple of years, not eating any animals and I just realized yesterday that I like Salmon and Crab. Am I truly a vegetarian by the standards? I'm confused now & don't want to be a "poser". =)

I am just curious as to WHY you are so 'concerned' about the lack of meat-eating in vegans/vegetarians, particularly people on the internet - whom you have never met. You will never meet this people and they will never make an impact in your life, so who cares if they follow what they believe?

Really, less meat eating by vegetarians means more meat for you, so shouldn't you be cheering!?

Is there anything else you are so passionate about sharing? It's just your constant 'vegetarian' posting reminds me of people who feel strongly about their religion and the need to share it with people (who don't really give a hoot....).

Have you had someone close to you die who was a vegetarian? Or did a vegetarian deeply hurt you?

I am honestly curious.

I've confirmed that my local taco bell uses vegetarian refried beans (if anyone else has evidence to the contrary, let me know) but was wondering if anyone knows whether the Spanish Rice used in stuff like the seven-layer burrito is made with any kind of animal broth? That darn burrito is my favorite fast food so if there's any other animal products used in creating it, I'd be grateful to know. (til then, i'm gonna order it without the rice)

i am 15 and my parents will not accept my decision on becoming vegetarian. i don't like to eat eggs or drink milk so instead i drink soymilk and find various ways of including protein into my diet. i don't believe i am malnourished because i carefully plan out my meals during the day so i get all of the vitamins and minerals i need for a growing teen. my mom likes to use threats that we will never go anywhere anymore because i am "changing her lifestyle" just because i won't eat meat. i tried confronting them about this but they just will not listen until i change my eating habits. help?
