shrndcksn, your friend is becoming a vegetarian who eats fish and eggs. Pescovarian is a new word that was recently introduced into the webster dictionary. I apologize for the ignorance of the people who have replied to your question before I had a chance to reply.
Being a vegetarian does not mean someone who eats only vegetables. You can still eat fish and eggs and be a vegetarian.

Why didn't you ask her? (FISH-EGG?)
There is not such a thing, so don't come and waste our time in this section, go to the language or reference section and try and promote a new, meaningless word there.
Actually the closest description would be she is becoming a FISH EGG.
Pesc = Fish
Ovarian = of or pertaining to an ovary.
The reproductive organ in female animals that produces eggs and the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone. In most vertebrate animals, the ovaries occur in pairs.

HERE'S JOHNNY. (ala "The Shining")
It means she's a liar! It means she's a wanna-be vegetarian that doesn't have the intellect, guts or will-power to do it right! It means that she is so self-absorbed that she doesn't care that through mangling and mis-use of the term vegetarian that she makes life harder for each and every real vegetarian on the planet! If you've quoted her accurately it means she's even too darn lazy to speak the entire offensive term!!
Real vegetarians get upset because we spend a significant amount of time and energy attempting to explain to people that we don't eat fish!!!!!! The abuse of the -arian suffix causes us problems every time we go to a restaurant and are told "Oh, you're vegetarian? We've got lots of options! Here's our fish menu".
The -arian suffix denotes lifestyle! NOT A DINING CHOICE!!
The only people that *might* be allowed to use the term would be Eskimos or South Pacific natives that spend their days fishing.
I doubt that she's spending her days on the ocean spearing fish.
If she wants to eat fish and no other animals the correct term based on Latin (the language-where the term vegetarian comes from) would be:
PISCIVORE
From the Latin root word Piscus meaning fish and the Latin suffix -vore meaning eater. Since whatever moron originally coined the term wasn't suitably educated in Latin they used a modern mis-spelling so the alternate spellings below should be acceptable:
PISCAVORE or
PESCAVORE
Thank you for your support. (ala Bartles & James)

It's Pescotarian not Pescovarian actually.
It means she will stop eating flesh from birds (chicken, duck, goose, turkey etc)and from mammals(pork, beef, lamb etc) but is not going to be a vegetarian as she plans to keep eating fish, shellfish and other seafood.
It is NOT a kind of vegetarianism as is often believed just a more selective kind of omnivore diet.

It means that she hasn't done her research :)
She believes that she is some sort of vegetarian who only eats fish but no other animals. There's no such thing. As greenghost says: she should be saying pescovore...arian shouldn't be at the end.
Please relay this message to your friend.

No such word. A pescetarian however is someone who does not eat any sort of meat EXCEPT fish. A pescetarian however is not any type of vegetarian.

There's no "pescovarian" but maybe you are refering to "pescotarian".
A pescotarian is someone who avoid eating any kind of meat except seafood.
Also, a pescotarian is not a type of vegetarian because they still consume fish and fish is an animal.

She'll grow fins. :P
This question pops up twice a day together with "is tofu healthy", and "my parents won't let me become vegetarian". Long live the repetitions!

Pescotarians are people who don't eat mammals or birds, but do eat the flesh of fish and seafood. (They're not vegetarians, though many people confuse the two)

Well she's not becoming a Pescovarian, but she might become a pescetarian. If she doesn't know the difference, maybe she should reconsider. Here's the answer for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pescetarian

It's a mispronunciation of a term for a person who is basically a vegetarian but also uses fish, eggs and dairy. They just don't eat any mammal or bird meat.
It's okay to make salad, salmon or omlettes when he or she comes over, but not steak or fried chicken.
