I think they are missing the point.
A Vegetarian diet can be very healthy but I believe meat eaters who eat healthy and stay away from fast food are better off than Vegetarians who eat fast food.

Yes, you can eat a salad at these places but you can make one at home using much fresher produce and salads are a universal food choice, not just for Vegetarians.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves...not all vegetarians are vegetarians for health reasons. I am a vegetarian because of my religion. I believe that all animals have souls just as humans do, and I am against eating any kind of meat out there. That being said, I have no trouble going down to Taco Bell and ordering a Tostada and Bean Burrito. There is nothing wrong with being vegetarian and eating out. Not all vegetarians are automatically considered "healthy" eaters.

Just because Some one is a vegetarian Doesn't mean they are into eating healthy. They are avoiding eating Animal flesh or Animal products.

My sister doesn't want to eat animals but is Happy to eat McD's Salads and Taco Bell's Seven Layer Burrito.

My Friend Mark is allergic to meat. So avoids anything that could be cooked with meat or is meat but will eat at certain fast food joints.

For the most part they do eat healthier than most but their vegetarianism was not to be more healthy.

I'm not sure therefore what point they are missing.

My husband has been a vegetarian since birth (no meat or fish whatsoever) and he is the healthiest person I know. And has he ever eaten at a fast food place? Yes.

There are healthier choices at fast food restaurants when you need to eat at one. When we drove across the country we had no choice but to stop into a Subway or Wendy's a few times. When you don't have any alternative, that's when you have fast food. I don't know anyone who actually chooses to eat at these types of places if they have a choice to eat fresh.

I think that *you* are actually missing the point by making such a generalized & assumptive statement.

I agree.wholeheartedly. I am vegetarian and wont set foot in one. Most people who eat the fries think they are vegetarian, but they contain beef tallow, so they arent at all. Many veggies also load up on junk foods. I eat a very healthy diet, mostly raw fruits and vegetables, some lightly cooked. I am munching on a lovely platter of good stuff right now

Not all vegetarians are so for health reasons! Some are veg. for religious, some for moral reasons. These people are merely removing animals/by products from their diets yet still eat all the crap they always did! For the record, not eating "red meat" doesn't make you a vegetarian when you still eat other animals and last time I checked fish wasn't a vegetable!

It all depends on what their ordering, dont you think?!! I myself used to be a "Vegan", and I actually got tired sometimes, of preparing all of those "Steamed Vegeez", day after day! So sometimes, I would go too Del Taco, and get me a Taco Salad.. it had meat in it, but I would request it without the meat.. And then I would go too "Wendy's", and just get their chilly beans, with cheese and onions on it! Their chilly is "Out of This World!!" Yummy!!! I drove all the way across town, to get their chilly-beans, and would rush to get back to work!!! Beans are so high in protein, and so good for you!! And sometimes, I didn't have cheese on it at all, I'd just have it the way they served it to me, with onion's only!! Or I think I requested it that way.. Anyway, not all fast food is bad for you!! It just depends on what they order, when they eat out.. And I'm sure they do it for the same reason I used too, just tired of all that cutting and work, it takes to be a "Vegan".. is all.. smile!!!!

Some vegetarians are doing it for other reasons behind being healthy. I know this vegetarian who started because she thought that it's cruel to kill animals and eat them. I know another one who just happens not to like the taste of beef or chicken. Both of these eat very unhealthily and lots of junk food.

They don't necessarily eat the deep fried foods when they go there... they opt for a healthy choice of green, leafy salads or boiled tofu soup, etc.

But it's always the dressing that is often unhealthy... look for the ones containing Omega-3 acids and / or antioxidants in the dressing...

Fast food restaurants do make salads, and good ones at that.
