being vegan for 1 year might seem like a long time, but it is not. it wasn't a long enough absence for you to have experienced a violent reaction to eating meat, like you might have anticipated. you probably just weren't eating enough healthy veg foods high in protein and iron while you were vegan. then you got an overload of iron and protein from your steak. both of which are good for energy. or maybe you were vegan for the wrong reasons and now you are just happy you let go.

I guess it would be important to know why you are vegan .. if you can say eating a steak..a dead cow made you feel good..then either you are not eating properly for good health..or mentally you are not prepared to be a vegan..

maybe it has more to do with a psychological factor. Maybe you thought of meat as off limits, like you were struggling to except your own decision subconsciously. Without realizing it eating that steak could have set your mind at ease. Vegan/vegetarianism is not for everyone.

Humans are omnivores (eat everything) by nature. We can survive on just meat or just not-meat pretty well for long periods. But since either extreme lacks some nutrients, we won't feel our best.
Even the best of supplements can't possible provide every nutrient requirement in the exact proportion since we don't know every single nutrient in a food. After time you might just be missing something you need. Other people might be fine -- we all have different requirements.
That and a good steak and beer blast is just so damn much fun!!! The high you can get from interacting with friends can lift you for days!!!

Not sure, but my buddy had the same thing happen. He was not a vegan but was a veggitarian. But one day he started eating red meat again, and he said he felt better, stronger. I think eating a little red meat is good for you. It gives you more energy some how. So I say if you feel better, than every now and again, maybe once a week or every other week, eat some steak.
