I have been recently diagnosed w/a dairy and wheat allergy...is mayo safe to eat, or should I avoid it? I'm asking 'cause I'm about to go to lunch and I am craving tuna salad.

Uh, maybe it's just me, but I always thought that eggs were included in the "dairy" category. (?) Hmmmm.
Any-who. Most mayo is made of oil and eggs, so going by my personal definition, mayo is made from dairy products. I've come across some mayo that doesn't use eggs, but it is probably not used wherever you are eating lunch. Check the recipe to be certain.

Mayo is not a dairy product, but made from eggs and oil, but you'll want to make sure that it is real mayo in the tuna salad before you get it, and that they don't dilute the dressing with milk.

It contains eggs, oil, acid and sometimes mustard plus some spices. But still check the label if it contains anything that has to do with wheat. Cheap mayos often contain filling substitutes to get more product out of nothing.

Contrary to what most people think, there is no dairy in mayonnaise . The fact that it's white in colour can be very deceiving . I know this for a fact because my dad made homemade mayonnaise all the time .

Mayo is made with eggs and oil. I would check the ingredients to be sure there are no other additives that would cause you problems.
