You can often answer a question by looking at the other side of a question. In your case, the other side of the question would be: If fish flesh isn't meat, what is it? Of course it is meat.

Is Fish Meat Scientifically

2017-01-13 10:43:06 · answer #2 · answered by wexler 4 · 0 0

DICTIONARY DEFINITION OF ANIMAL
1. any member of the kingdom Animalia, comprising multicellular organisms that have a well-defined shape and usually limited growth, can move voluntarily, actively acquire food and digest it internally, and have sensory and nervous systems that allow them to respond rapidly to stimuli: some classification schemes also include protozoa and certain other single-celled eukaryotes that have motility and animallike nutritional modes.
________________________________________________________________________

Fish are multicellular organisms.
Fish have a well defined shape, overall. The types of fish may have different structures, but overall they are the same.
Fish can move voluntarily.
Fish actively acquire food and digest it. In fact, without acquiring it, fish could not live.
Fish have a nervous system, and they are able to respond rapidly to stimuli.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
In reference to this, if a fish is not an animal, cows, horses, and dogs would not be animals either. Do you think a dog is an animal? Scientifically, it does meet the guidelines for becoming an animal. It can move voluntarily, dog’s shape are well defined overall, they can more voluntarily, they consume and digest food, they are multicellular, and have senses and nervous systems. In simpler terms:
1. Dogs have more than one cell. Fish have more than one cell.
2. Dogs have a well defined shape. Fish have a well defined shape. (Note: Different types of fish have different shapes: for example, an angelfish and a goldfish have different structures. But, saying that, a Siberian Husky and a Maltese have different structures.)
3. Dogs move voluntarily – they walk, run, etc. Fish move voluntarily, by swimming.
4. Dogs eat, and dogs dispose of it. Fish do the same.
5. Dogs have a nervous system, as do fish.

You would say that a dog is an animal: it is. It meets the guideline for a classification for animals. So does a fish.

FISH
1. any of various cold-blooded, aquatic vertebrates, having gills, commonly fins, and typically an elongated body covered with scales.
2. (loosely) any of various other aquatic animals.
3. the flesh of fishes used as food.
----------------------------------------------------------
A fish is an aquatic animal, the key word being animal . It fits scientific guidelines, and is classified as an animal.

MEAT
1. the flesh of animals as used for food.
-------------------------------------------------------
Do we eat the flesh of fish? Yes, we do. And since meat is the flesh of animals used for food, and fish is meat, then when you eat fish, you are eating meat.

xx

Note: while fish IS meat, it is not always considered meat. scientificallly, fish is meat, but most people don't consider it.
Hope this answers your question.

Meat is another word for flesh. Fish have flesh. You are not a vegetarian.

There is alot of false info floating around regarding this. First of all...you are not a vegetarian that eats fish..there is no such thing...they kind of cancel eachother out.

It amazes me how many people are clueless on this. It is not totally their fault because there is a lot of bunk information, but it is still terribly annoying none the less.

Sorry, but vegetarians do not eat the fishes because vegetarians do not eat animals. No such thing as an animal-eating vegetarian because each negates the other.

No vegetarian organization or society, since vegetarianism began has EVER accepted the idea of a animal-eating vegetarian. NO *pesca,* no *semi*, no *flexi.* You either eat animals or you don't. A person's 'reasons' don't matter don't really matter on this... it is a very simple concept.

It is fine to eat fish, but please do not refer to yourself as a vegetarian because you would be doing a great disservice to a group of people who believe in their lifestyle and work hard at it. Of course, you could call yourself "Princess-Queen of the Pandas" and no one could stop you.. we just don't like misinformation.

It can be charming to write the way one talks, but maybe you should reconsider it after all. And as tough as it may be, but your teacher is once again right! Aren't fish animals and living creatures? Maybe you could impress your teacher by improving your spelling and style?

I disagree with you because your teacher is correct. Fish is actually meat. It is considered an animal. The animal's inability to sweat has nothing to do with whether it's meat or not.

If you look on the food pyramid you will see fish is in the meat group as well as beans and nuts and other items. If they put it in the protein section then I would say that it is a meat. (The Food Guide Pyramid is one way for people to understand how to eat healthy. A rainbow of colored, vertical stripes represents the five food groups plus fats and oils. Here's what the colors stand for:

orange - grains
green - vegetables
red - fruits
yellow - fats and oils
blue - milk and dairy products
purple - meat, beans, fish, and nuts

Cant argue with the grub pyramid

sorry, but your teacher is right. just because something doesn't sweat and is cold blooded does not mean it is not a living thing. it's alive (at some point) and has flesh, therefore it is meat. don't get me wrong, it's good that you're giving up other kinds of meat, but please remember that you are still eating living things if you still eat seafood. they are just animals that live in the sea.

Sorry but your teacher is correct and you are in the wrong here...you are most definitely NOT a vegetarian...vegetarians eat no flesh, fish or fowl...all living creatures, be they land, air or sea, are composed of MEAT...
