Ok, for work, we've decided to do a Thanksgiving dinner, because we have some guys here from Spain that don't normally get to celebrate most of our US holidays. I have to be at work at 9:30 AM and of course I offered to make homemade mashed potatoes. I really don't want to get up any earlier than I have to so I was wondering if it would affect the potatoes badly or make it taste different if I were to just peel and cut the potatoes the night before I have to boil them? Any suggestions?

Other than the traditional taters, stuffing, green bean casserole, and sweet potatoes, what sides are you serving that are different & interesting ?

Is it completely pointless for me to eat boiled vegetables? I don't like my veggies crisp, at all, I just can't bring myself to eat them like that. It almost makes me gag. Am I getting any nutrients at all?

When making yeast bread it rises fine the first time but then when it says to place it in a bread pan and wait till it doubles in size again. I leave it sitting longer than the suggest time and still doesn't do much. Any suggestions?

I was out of my usual ingredients I use for making hamburgers so I desided to go a little crazy with some spices. I honestly didn't think they would turn out as good as they did but they were awesome. Here's what I used and then I grilled the burgers.

lean hamburger meat
onion finely chopped
bread crumbs
egg
oregano
soy sauce
ground cumin
parmesan cheese in the meat
colby jack cheese on top of the meat

What sounds good to you?!! I love grilled chicken, fish, and turkey (I have all). Also have whole wheat tortillas, salad, tomatoes, leftover sloppy joe meat, cheese, and lots of other stuff. What sounds good out of all of this? Or what other ideas do you have?! Best answer award so keep the ideas coming! Because I'm feeling generous right now=]

Ok. So for thanksgiving, my dad bought like 6 boxes of those Jiffy muffins. I wan't suppoesed to make them yet, but i couldn't wait. So i put the batter in, preheated th oven, and put the milk in. That is, until i found out we have no eggs. i needed 1 egg per package. So thats 6 eggs. And i only have my permit, so i can't go drive to the grocery store. So my question is: Is there another ingrediant i can use to replace the eggs? Thanks!

I am making some chicken and dumplings, and i saw at the store that you can get "Mary B's" brand frozen dumplings... Has anyone used these with their recipe? Also, is there a good technique for adding the dumplings so they don't tear or get mushy?

I am making a sweet potato casserole for thanksgiving. How long should I bake 5 large sweet potatos and at what degree in the oven to make them soft so i can mash them and make a casserole out of them. Second question. If I baked and mash them the day before, can I store them in the fridge and bake them the next day in the casserole. Will they stay good or will it ruin the casserole. Thanks in advance.

I'm embarrassed to say I have found a couple of cans of pumpkin in my pantry. They are different brands, and I only purchase this at Thanksgiving. That means one can is at least 1 year old...and one is probably 2 years old!!! Should I just bite the bullet and chuck it in the trash, or is it still okay?

I need a good cornbread oyster dressing recipe. I can make good cornbread dressing but I want to do something different this year. I am going to make a small pan since everyone might not like oyster dressing. Please share your favorite recipe and not something that you found on a cooking site. I want a true tested recipe. Thank you .
