I am making some chicken and dumplings, and i saw at the store that you can get "Mary B's" brand frozen dumplings... Has anyone used these with their recipe? Also, is there a good technique for adding the dumplings so they don't tear or get mushy?

The Mary B's dumplings are excellent. And to use them, yes you must add them to boiling stock or they will get mushy. Fresh dumplings are more fragile, and might tear up, but the frozen ones need the extra heat to thaw them.

I've never used that brand of dumplings (I make my own), but I do love me some Mary B's frozen biscuits! I'm sure they are just as good, and probaby the same dough!

Add dumplings to simmering chicken stock, not a rolling boil, or that will tear them up. Make sure all sides have gotten wet. THen put the lid on and let steam about 15-20 minutes.

Her brand is very good, very close to homemade you can barely tell the difference. I just add them in at the last minute while the stock is boiling, add them one at a time. I lower them in on a slotted spoon or whatever is closest to me. Stir a couple times to make sure they dont get stuck on the bottom. HTH
