Using a heavy, oven-proof pan, preferably cast iron, heat it over med-high heat til almost smoking. Add canola oil and then steaks. There will be popping and sizzling. Cook on one side 4 minutes and turn. Sear on that side for 4 minutes. Then place in a 400 oven for another 4 minutes for medium rare.

Marinate the steak in 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 3 tablespoons minced garlic , from jar is fine, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon onion powder . Mix well and marinate for at least 30 minutes. When pan broiling/frying, use a very heavy skillet such as an iron skillet or griddle and heat the pan before adding the meat. The heavy metal will hold the heat for proper heat distribution and not cool down when the steak is added. A hot pan will quickly sear the outside, trapping the moisture inside. When cooking, try to turn the steak only once. Cook the meat until browned on one side and half done, then turn and finish the other side. Turning too often will stew the meat rather than searing it and produce a less juicy steak. When the steak is done, remove from the pan and allow to rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve with your choice of potato, a green veggie, and a tossed salad.

Season the raw steaks on both sides with salt and pepper and any other seasoning you like.
I'd add a little butter with a dash of olive oil let the pan warm up then put the steaks into it when hot Sear well on both sides and let cook until the desired doneness is achieved. Only turn once, and do not cut the meat. Lets all the juices run out and its ruined.
Remove the steaks from the pan, keep warm. Add some quartered onions to the pan, and fry out tilll crisp./tender and slightly browned and done. Top steaks with the onions, add a few splashes of balsamic vinegar to the pan, and a few tablespoons of beef broth, and using a whisk, whisk all the bits off the bottom of the pan and let reduce till slightly thickened. Pour over steaks and onions.
If you don't want to do the reduction and onions, just do the steaks this way. They'll be great.

Its a shame you have to fry steaks in a pan. Ribeye is an expensive cut.
Not crazy for the taste myself, nevertheless. Add a few tablespoons of oil, vegetable or olive.
Heat the pan.
Place steaks in pan.
Depending on whether or not you like the steaks rare or not, remove from the pan, place on a wooden cutting board and cut into the meat. If meat is to your liking.. . enjoy and eat.. If not place back into the pan and cook to your satisfaction.
There is a product on the market called the open hearth and it is manufactured by Farberware. I have one and I love it.
Its made of stainless steel, comes apart for easy cleaning and you can place it on the table. No smoking. Great! Give it a try......

Use high heat to sear the outside to help seal in the juices. Depending on how thick the steaks are (like if they are over a 3/4 inch), and how well you want them cooked, you might have to put them in oven at 375F after searing both sides to finish the cooking. Leaving them in the pan too long may burn the outside.

Get your skillet screaming hot. Season your steaks w/ kosher salt and FGB pepper. Slap a steak into that hot skillet, and do not move it. Let it sear. It will seem like it's stuck, but it will come up once you've got a sear on it. Then flip w/ tongs, leave it, let it sear. Remove to plate.
If you have a huge skillet, you can do both steaks at once. BUt you don't want to crowd them or they will kind of "steam" and not get a good sear on them.
