When I was a child in the 1950 there were many more options to ground beef. I was wondering if there were any butchers around from that era who would have a recipe for either. I know the answer the FDA gives for the difference between ground beef and hamburger being the addition of fat and or seasonings but seem to remember it differently.

I love mine because it can handle a double batch of my great grandmother's cookies without any problems. I was wondering why other people love theirs.

I was cooking some pasta with my girlfriend, and we differed on our our opinion of how often to stir pasta. I said more frequently, because it helps make sure all the pasta gets roughly the same amount of time in hotter spots of the pan. She says less frequently because when you stir it's bound to come out of the water, which cools it off and delays cooking time.

What do you all think?

help!! My bf refuses to eat my traditional meals of a serving of meat and 5 veg or my stir frys or anything else 'healthy'. Instead he insists every meal should be meat with chips (french fries) on the side or pasta dishes with the occasional roast covered with oil. I have no problem with eating this kind of meal on occasion, but not every single night. Just think of the cholesterol! Please, if anyone has a recipe thats not too elaborate or expensive to make (food in my corner of the world is getting ridiculously expensive) and HEALTHY could you please share it with me? I greatly appreciate the help

I need this for low-carb recipes. Almond flour is too expensive for our tastes so I was wondering if anything else can be used. I have at the time oat flour, flaxseed meal, and soy flour

i was about to make sugar cookies. a bag of betty crocker's sugar cookie mix is what was going to use....
i know...slacker...
the directions say to use flour to make the dough for cut out cookies, which is what i wanted to do with them...we're making pumpkin cut outs and decorating them...
can i use corn starch instead of flour? that's all i have...i don't want to run to the store for flour being that i have all three kids with me and a run to the store now would be useless and chaotic. it's getting close to bedtime! haha!
any other suggestions for the substitution i can use?
tips? help?
thanks.

when i lived in northern illinois almost every bar and some diners would have a sandwich called a grinder. it was never the same. some places it was just a cheeseburger with a few slices of ham on top. or a ham sandwich with barbecued beef or pork slices. and at one place it was like hamburger seasoned with taco sauce with a sausage patty and lettuce and tomato slices. it was all good. but is there really any definition of what a sandwich called a grinder should be really made of? they serve them on regular hamburger buns or italian or french bread and even just plain sliced white bread. is a grinder a real sandwich or just whatever the cook wants to throw together?

If anyone has any tasty, relatively easy, recipes that you would like to share, please let me know! Preferably, ones you have tried...do not just put a link to recipe.net or something similar. Throw some ideas that you, yourself, make and are a hit!!

In looking for a healthier snack I decided to try yogurt and bought a few different flavors of Yoplait Thick and Creamy.... I obviously cannot eat this stuff.

Any ideas as to what I might make from it that might be edible?
