Start with two pieces of bread and two pieces of American process Cheese slices. Place cheese between bread and pan toast in a well buttered skillet. Don't have the heat to high or you'll burn the toast before the cheese melts. All that's left to do is flip the sandwich a couple of times so that the cheese is nice and melted and the toast is golden brown.

You can experiment with all sorts of cheeses and breads. And even with different seasonings like pepper, rosemary, thyme, & basil. You just have to see what you like (and don't like). Just remember that most grilled cheese sandwiches are made the same, by buttering both breads & slaping some cheese into the middle. Then you brown both sides of the sandwich. Put on plate & serve!

You can try all these variations of grilled cheese sandwich, BUT cover the pan with a lid for a couple minutes on both sides-this helps the cheese melt. TWO additions to your toasted cheese-tuna mixed with mayo and roasted red pepper in between before you toast. Just discovered the red pepper-YUM It sells in jars but a little pricey-pimientos are probably close to it.

Here goes, get a skillet hot. Take two pieces of bread and put butter on one side of each. Grab two slices of cheese. Place the bread, butter side down into the skillet. Place the cheese on the bread. then put the other piece of bread on top, butter side up. After a couple of minuets, carefully flip the sandwich over and cook another couple of minuets. Let it brown on each side without burning. Keep flipping until the cheese melts .

Well you're going to think I'm weird but I do the standard 2 pieces of bread and the butter on the outside and american cheese and if I have swiss on hand I'll throw that in but I add a twist if you will. Mayonaise. Yes, I like that on my grilled cheese!!!!

Melt butter in a skillet, lay two pieces of bread in and brown on one side, flip over, put the cheese of your choice (sorry but I'm a Velveeta person - and yes, I know it's not real cheese), make sure the heat is low so your bread doesn't burn and the cheese has time to melt.

1. Dark rye bread (or any kind of bread), buttered on one side of each piece.
2. Put one piece of bread (butter-side down) on the pan/grill pan/griddle on medium heat.
3. Put a slice of cheddar (or American) cheese on top, then add sliced tomatoes (2 thin slices of a medium tomato or 1 thin slice of a really large tomato), and a couple strips of crisp bacon, then put another piece of cheese on top of that. Finally, top with other buttered slice of bread (buttered-side up).
4. Let it go for a couple minutes and then check the color on the bottom. Flip it when it's golden brown.
5. Repeat on the other side (the other side will cook more quickly). Do not press it with the spatula. The melted cheese will hold it together.

If you like cheese only, then skip the tomato and bacon.

I like to use white or wheat bread and thick slices of velveeta cheese (put it on so it covers the entire slice of bread) and sometimes its really good with pepperoni or ham on it too. Then you put the pieces of bread together, butter both sides and slap it on a frying pan with a little butter on it on low heat and flip it over when 1 side is toasted to toast the other. and if the cheese doesnt melt after that you can always put it in the microwave for a few seconds to melt it.

Put real mayo inside the bread under the cheese. DO NOT use Miracle Whip or any fake mayo. This will blend cheese and bread together and make a very tasty sandwich.
