My wife bought me a cast iron skillet a while ago and is upset that I have not yet used it. I like to cook, but I have never really used cast iron. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The pumpkins at my produce market look very nice this year. I love using fresh pumpkin. I'm looking for pumpkin recipes for main dish or side dish, for dinner.

I'm looking for ideas other than soups; and not dessert or sweets.

I'm an average chef/baker. I bake probably around 2-4 times a week. I've been wanting to buy a kitchenaid for a long time now and I've decided I want to buy either an artisan or a heavy duty. I don't think I need the power of the pro 600, so it's between the heavy duty and artisan. What's the difference between the heavy duty and the heavy duty plus? What are the advantages and disadvantages of bowl-lift and tilt-head?

Where can I buy some preserving jars for making chutnies and jam? The type with an orange rubber seal.

I'm looking for a physical shop rather than an online one as
my local Range store has been out of stock for the last few weeks. I am based in Nottingham.

I am making mushrooms as a side for dinner tonight. Dinner is garlic mashed potatoes with crab-stuffed salmon pinwheels. That stuff should take about a half hour to cook. Any way I can bake a side of mushrooms in the meantime? How? Preferably something flavorful.

Why do we have to chill chocolate crinkle cookie dough?

Is the only reason for chilling because it makes shaping the dough into small balls easier? Or does it have an effect on the taste? Does it make the crinkles moister or softer after baking?

In the past my boiled sweet potatoes have turned out sloppy and wet....yuck.
And my roasted ones much the same.
I'm a disaster with these tatters, and need help with all basic recipes.
I'm not looking for anything flash, just normal every day stuff.
Boiling or steaming, mashing & roasting (baking). And preparation.
Thanks.

I don't want to use Teflon or any of that stuff because I've heard it can wear off into food over time.

Any ideas on good pans that don't stick, but don't use Teflon or a similar material? Thanks in advance.
