I make a shrimp pasta salad that my family just loves. You have to like green olives to like it though. I don't have a written recipe for it because it is so simple. I will tell you the ingredients and how I make it.
1 pound package of small shell pasta - I like small shell pasta best but you can use another type of pasta if you like.
1 jar of green, sliced salad olives - I use a 10 ounce jar, that's the size my local store carries, you can use more or less to your own taste.
1 can of tiny shrimp - I use the one that is the size of a can of tune, a 4.25 ounce can, you can use 2 cans if you want more shrimp in it.
Mayonnaise - NOT SALAD DRESSING OR MIRACLE WHIP
Cook the pasta and drain it, I rinse it to cool it quicker.
Put the pasta in a large bowl, add the olives and about half of the olive juice (the juice adds to the flavor). Add mayonnaise. This is the hard part to tell you because I don't measure. I think it's about 3 cups of mayonnaise. I tried using salad dressing once and that totally ruined it. Mix this and then add the shrimp. I add the shrimp last so that the shrimp are not smashed/broken up so much. Refrigerate until it is cold. If it is too dry, you can add more mayonnaise or olive juice.
You can add things like onion, celery, or green pepper if you like. I have a friend that makes this salad, and she adds imitation crab meat to it. You can adapt it any way you like. I've thought about adding bacon bits to see what that would taste like, but I haven't done it yet.
I have no idea of the calories or fat content in this. If you try this, I hope that you like it.

There are loads of salads/sides I would have at a BBQ:-
A nice, cool tomato salsa with green peppers. Some sour cream and guacemole on the side for any wraps or buns that are made.
A boiled salad with green beans, diced carrots, new potatoes and sweetcorn. Great with sausages and bacon.
Potato and mayonnaise salad. FOR ANYTHING <3
Coleslaw. As above <3
Fresh, sliced mozzarella cheese, tomato and basil. For the weight watchers...also very delish with ham/pork.
Grilled, sliced fresh figs, mozarella cheese. Looovely with chicken.
Grilled aubergine with a garlic butter. Gorgeous with beef/lamb.
Oooh, there's so much! I'm hungrryyyy...

Potato salad: chopped cooked potatoes, mayonaisse, celery (or celery salt) purple onions dry or dijon mustard, salt a white pepper. Adjust all ingredients to taste and quantity desired. Add a fruit (apple or pineapple) or sweet relish or spice it up with chillies for a different twist
Macaroni salad: basically the same except use macaroni or any tube pasta. add some chopped cooked chicken or shrimp if desired.

Potato salad potatoes, hard boiled eggs, celery, onion, mayonnaise, little vinegar, salt and pepper
Pasta salad -- 2 cups cooked macaroni, l/2 cup each onion, red pepper, green pepper, diced tomato, and 1/2 cup ranch dressing
Jello mouse -- 1 package dream whip, 1 package uncooked jello, 1 8 oz soften cream cheese - fresh strawberries -- mix all together with a mixer or food processor and chill -- yummy
this is also another easy one -- take a thin pizza dough -- bake cool -- spread with veggie cream cheese and sprinkle with cut up veggies ie, peppers, cucumber, tomatoes etc.
or do it with fruit -- using a pineapple or strawberry cream cheese and putting on strawberries and kiwi and banana

Pasta salad - any pasta - any vegetables and my special dressing - a jar of creamy Italian and 1/2 cup sugar or splenda.
I usually use bow tie pasta, cucumbers, green onions, peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, cheese, black olives and sometimes beef stick and cover it in Parmesan cheese.
Also, cheesey potatoes.
1 Bag Southern Hash Browns
1 can mushroom soup
3 cups cheese
1 melted stick of butter
1 cup sour cream
salt and pepper
Mix together and topped with crushed potato chips. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
Good luck.

potato salads, coleslaw; any kind of salad from fruits and vegetables such as orange mayo salad, meaty salad (beef or chicken) is not suitable because meats are already in a menu.
seafood plus vegetables can be included in the salad variety choice.

Potato Salad. South African Family Recipe: Cook potato's, semi-mash it, not too much. Mix Mayonnaise and Condensed milk. You can add boiled eggs if you wish, and mix it. Yummy!! I need to get out of this office and eat potato salad. Another tip. Add fine cut bacon on top.
