I need a recipe for cajun seasoning. I'd rather make it than buy it--got a lot of spices in the kitchen.

i am allergic to wheat and need help with planning breakfast particularly but lunch too and thought keeping free of carbs would be a generic way of also steering clear of wheat.

any suggestions?

What I usually do with my catfish is just fry it in olive oil and eat it with butter. (I'm wary of the broiler.) Are there any other (relatively easy) catfish recipes you like? What kinds of vegetables (besides, like, potatoes) do you pair with it?

In recipes that call for milk can you substitute "heavy cream" ? Also I have never used "puff pastry". How do you use it as a crust for Quiche? Last question.. What is Phylo Pastry ? Is it found where the Puff Pastry is at in store ? In Dairy Dept ?? Thanks to all...

I am a pretty avid baker, and every one I know raves about my cookies and cupcakes.

When I try to bake sheet cakes, however, the cake doesn't rise evenly, creating a mound down the center and dipping towards the edges, and there is always a long split lengthwise down the cake.

Most of the time, I end up covering it with icing to mask the split, but with the way that the cake rises, the cakes still don't turn out very well. They taste amazing, but look terrible.

I have tried both premade mixes and mixes from scratch, both with the same outcomes.

I have also used several different ovens, also producing the same outcome.

Any suggestions?

Some random person flashbaxx obviously thinks it's funny to answer peoples question with the following response:

Good question!! You should think about it more seriously whilst making pancakes...

Recipe

Serve these pancakes with butter and syrup.
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups all-purpose flour, stirred or sifted before measuring
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
2 tablespoons melted butter
PREPARATION:
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture, stirring only until smooth. Blend in melted butter. Cook on a hot, greased griddle, using about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake. Cook until brown on one side and around edge; turn and brown the other side. Recipe for pancakes serves 4.

WHAT ON EARTH IS THE POINT TO THIS. I WANT TO REPORT YOU FOR ABUSE OF THE SYSTEM!!!!!!

Who's with me?

Can someone explain the difference between all purpose flour and self rising flour? If a recipe specifically called for self rising flour what would happen if you used all purpose.
FYI for a peach cobbler.

I am making an Elmo cake for my nephews first birthday. I know that shortening is best in buttercream for decorating. Should I use more butter in the frosting to ice the cake and then make a different batch for the decorating with more shortening in it? Or can I use a recipe that is both butter and shortening and use it on the whole thing? What do you think? Let me know. Thanks!
