Yes I like cheese with potato, but caramelised garlic is a favourite.

2 x 75-80g heads of Garlic
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
25g Butter
100 mls Chicken Stock
Peel the garlic and put them into a small pan with the butter and olive oil. Saute gently until they just start to go golden and then add the chicken stock. Press a sheet of crumpled wet greaseproof paper down onto the top of them and leave to cook very gently for about 15 minutes.

Mix about 2/3rds into the mashed potato and use the rest for a gravy with your meat.

As for the watery thing. Could be you're cooking them in too much water or adding too much milk when mashing. Try just mashing in butter first, then adding milk a little at a time.

I use butter and mash well with a hand potato masher before adding a little full cream milk. A good quality yogurt added instead of the milk gives a nice taste. If you want to spoil the family for something different, add Philadelphia cheese to the mash - Delicious.
When one of the kids were sick with colds flu etc. I added a raw egg to the hot mashed potato and fresh garlic.

I love them. I love smashed tatters and love cheddar cheese on them.

I am not good at making mashed potatoes but mine don't end up watery. I drain the potatoes well and mix in butter and a little milk and whip them up real good (not too much though). They usually turn out OK.

I LOVE MASHED POTATOES!!
- with gravy, butter, cheese, bacon, you name it.
Too watery, when you strain off the water, put the pot back on the stove to evaporate any remaining moisture, mash the potatoes, add some butter, add some milk or cream...not too much. This should help.

P.S. try adding a bit of horse radish to your mashed potatoes, it's awesome.

i love it too!

When I make mashed potatoes, I slowly add butter, cheese and hardly any milk to make it thicker. I also noticed that if I do not use a blender, but I use a fork instead - I get thicker version too - a little on the lumpy side; but I like mine lumpy. Have you ever tried using sour cream instead of using any milk at all? YUMMMY!

specific that's, as long as you're partial to cream cheese. regardless of the undeniable fact that making use of heavy cream rather for the milk will make very wealthy creamy mashed potatoes and is a safer greater suitable tasting option.

You betcha! Don't put too much water in them. If you put milk in your mashed potatoes as you mash them, sparingly mind you, that will make them creamier and less watery.

LOVE IT. Mash them first, then add a little milk and sour cream. The sour cream will make them thicker than adding a lot of milk and it adds a creamery texture. Oh so good!!!

If they are instant, put less than what the box says on water, or add extra flakes.
If they're real potatoes, use less milk then blend them. If they're too chunky, add more milk a little at a time.
And yes.... I love cheesy taters!
