I'm making cookies for friends and family holiday gifts, and I'm trying to make a crispy, crunchy cookie for my grandfather. Every recipe I try comes out cakey or chewy (which is actually how I prefer then), and I know he doesn't like soft cookies. Any suggestions?

I love flans but they usually have a lot of eggs, which I try not to eat too much due to high cholesterol. Do you know of a recipe that requires very little egg? I'd also like to try other flavors such as pumpkin, apple, or coffee (my favorite flavor in the whole world)

Does anyone have an old recipe for cheddar oatmeal bread? Years ago it was on the back of yeast packages.

Say you enter a contest to use a certain sponsor's ingredient, and it must be an original recipe. Are you telling me that NOT ONE person on the planet has already invented it? Over the past, say, 10,000 years, you think that nobody has tried your recipe? Impossible I say. There must be hundreds of millions of people who have eaten spaghetti for example. And then someone is supposed to enter a contest, to come up with a new recipe. Can't be done.

When I was little growing up in The Colonies my mother made the best Christmas pudding with carrots as the main ingredient. It tasted fantastic, with the (non-alcoholic) hard sauce, like a carrot cake "on steroids". She is gone, and alas, I have no recipe. Every recipe I have tried for plum pudding or Christmas pudding of any type has not been very good, to the point that I am the only one who will eat them, just because I worked so hard on them (and the ingredients are so dear). Help, please!

Does anyone know how to enter into the competitions you see on Food Network such as the Gingerbread house competitions or the different pie competitions? I was on the Food Network website, but that gave me no information.

Thanks.
