Not just the regular veggie or cheese tray, something new and different. I'm an excellent cook.

Whenever we go to a gathering, I'm expected to bring something truely yummy. The favorite by far is empenadas.

I make a dough simular to pie crust to which I add seasoning like garlic, paprika, curry, or anything to spice it up.

Add a little cheese, some ground cooked chicken, form into little pockets and bake.

1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Combine the graham cracker crumbs, ground pecans, 2 tablespoons white sugar, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, and the melted butter or margarine and mix well. Firmly press mixture into one 9 inch springform pan.
Combine 3/4 cup of the white sugar, the pumpkin, 3 egg yolks, ground cinnamon, ground mace, ground ginger and salt in a medium bowl. Mix well, and set aside.
Beat cream cheese with an electric mixer until light and fluffy; gradually add 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons white sugar and mix well. Add the whole egg, remaining egg yolk and the whipping cream, beating well. Add cornstarch and vanilla and lemon flavorings, beat batter until smooth. Add pumpkin mixture and mix well. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 50 to 55 minutes. Do not overbake. Center may be soft but it will firm up when chilled. Let cheesecake cool on a wire rack, then refrigerate.

The food that's most enjoyed at potlucks are the ones that have homecooked meat in it (excluding store bought ham). If you're a good cook then I'd stick with that. People often bring veggies and stuff alike but few people touche it or will it earn compliments. Show your talents as well as your appreciation for your co-workers. They'll remember things like that. Try a roast chicken, bbq ribs, lasagna, fried rice with meat or shrimp, egg rolls, mini sausage in sauce, etc.

I would bring a salad-with fresh salad greens. Add dried cranberries, crumbled blue cheese, and candied pecans. Do a rasberry vingeratte salad dressing.

You could also do a seven layer salad
sour cream, shredded cheese, sweet peas, ham (or turkey ham),
shredded lettuce, mayonaisse, and bacon bits (can use fake bacon bits) Refrigerate and leave in overnight.

Ramen Noodle Salad

Break up and sautee ramen noodles in small amt of butter
Break up romaine lettuce
Chop up Green onions
Add Pecans / or Walnut Halves
Use a soy/oriental vingerette dressing.

Broccolli Slaw

one bag od Broccolli slaw
dried cranberries
halved cashews
mazaretti slaw dressing 1/2 bottle

What you should bring to a potluck is your favorite dish. If you don't have one buy a cake from the store. Buy a cake that you've tasted because you might not like yourself and you have to take it home with you. Ask the person who's hosting the party if they want anything certain like plain chocolate cake or something.

My favorite hot dish would be lasagna, I don't have a written recipe, it's from my dad and I just have it in my head. Everyone always seems to like that. I also have a favorite cake recipe, it's really just a jazzed-up cake mix, but heavenly!

Chocolate Goo Cake
(1) German chocolate cake mix
(1) jar butterscotch or caramel ice cream sauce
(1) 14oz. can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
(1) 8oz. Cool Whip topping
Heath or toffee bits to taste

Make the cake according to package directions in a 9x13 inch pan. When you take it out of the oven, poke holes in it with a wooden spoon handle, and pour over the ice cream sauce and the can of milk. Cover loosely and refrigerate for several hours or overnight. Shortly before serving, top cake with Cool Whip and sprinkle candy bits over the top, as many as you like.

I would go for some bread or rolls! Not just plain ones, but try some flavoered ones as well! Good luck!
